I am new here and someone was rude

Hey, I am new to Catan here and I’m trying to learn how to play Catan. Somebody I was playing with talked about a friendly robber and I asked a question and they didn’t answer. And then they were just rude in the comments. They said I had played a thousand games, which was not true. It’s OK, I’m a competitive player, but what what should I do about it? Is there a way to block playing with somebody who was being really rude?
P.S. what is friendly robber any way?

None of your recent games was played with option "Friendly Robber" - thus you did nothing wrong.

If you are interested, "Friendly Robber" and "Easy Start" are options on BGA that are explained in the "Traders and Barbarians" rulebook which you can find on Catan homepage.

Short intro to those options:
-) "Easy start" rerolls all 7s in the first few rounds.
-) "Friendly robber" does not allow any player to steal ressources after a 7 or even block a hex when a player with only 2 (visible) Victory points would be affected.

Please note that "Friendly robber" is very popular with some players on BGA and there are several toxic players that want to enforce it even in games that do not have the option activated. You can red thumb them such that you never need to play them again.

We can't see exactly what was said in your conversation, so we can't tell if they were implying you had played over 1,000 games of Catan, which is not true, or if they were saying you have played over 1000 games overall, which is true. If their point was that you can't be "new" to BGA because you've played over 1,000 other games and your account is over one year old, that's irrelevant to whether you're new to Catan, but it's still a true statement. Regardless, it doesn't justify any rude behavior.

Is there a way to block playing with somebody who was being really rude?

Yes. Go to their profile and click on the red thumb underneath the "Reputation" heading.
