Losing games I did not know I was in?

I think I do not know how to use the rematch option. I can't seem to start a new game using "rematch" and get hooked up to the same opponent. So I quit back to the main menu and start from scratch. However I have received notices I have lost 2 games I was never aware I was involved with. I think while attempting to reconnect with my prior opponent using the "rematch" button someone is joining my game but I do not get any indication a player has joined. The same thing happens with the "play again" button. It starts a game but there is no indication of a player joining.

So what am I missing?

I have never had this happen, but I only ever rematch with people I know and who I have confirmed want another match with the same settings. It's possible that your opponent doesn't want a rematch game and turns it down and the system opens the table to other BGA players? I would recommend (if you're not doing it already) to confirm with your opponent that a rematch is wanted.
The system *should* notify you in either case of an opened rematch or a brand new game of players accepting your game, but I don't know how to fix that.
