Average TTR Elo

Post by Cedroc92 »

Hi

Do you know the median Elo of people playing TTR in Arena mode ?
or, which is not exactly the same, the average ELo of games played in Arena mode.

My feeling is : it is around 280 Elo (50% people under, 50% above).
What do you think about this ?

Either you have the data to back up this number or you don't. How are "feelings" about it at all relevant? So you're going to share the Google sheet where you collected the data, right?

I don't know about the actual median, 280 seems reasonable, maybe a bit lower if you count the unique players, but many high rated players play more, so you tend to meet them more often. What I noticed and I'm pretty sure about is that it keeps increasing, one year ago was lower for sure.

If I had to put money on this, I’d say 220 +/- 20, and probably more around 210 than more. Usually, I prefer to play around 440 avg and the median is around the same if not higher, and if I play Arena, it drags now these values down by A LOT, i.e. it’s very rare to play 400+ but very common to encounter 100-200 players. (I track 50 last games)

I’m not sure what is the purpose of your question Cedroc?

Assuming you're using them given your rating preferences, blame the Arena filters. If you play Arena you can only filter by Leagues, but Elite League is more of a participation prize. I say this because a 100 rated players can be Elite, despite 100 rating being the floor BGA allows you to fall to before it won't let you lose anymore rating. So the skill filter is basically nonexistent even if your Arena filters only allowed "Elite" players. The Elo Class filters in regular rated games are much more reliable.

In fact, in Arena mode, there is an answer : at this time, there is 2600 players in Elite group, the players ranked 1300 st are around 250-300 as I said.

My question was: when you play in Arena, you can not choose your opponent. So, what will be the average level of you opponents. As said Exalted, strong people usually play more, the average level may be a little higher than the Elo of the 1300st player.

I don't know if it is possible to extra database of games played...

1. Elite is not the whole Arena.
2. Players in Arena are not ranked by elo, lower-ranked players could have higher elo than higher-ranked players.

So 250-300 could be an estimation, but no more.

And it doesn’t mean that ppl in « Elite Arena » are playing more games too; so when you are ACTUALLY playing, the median of your opps can be inferior to the total median…
