Turn based 1 on 1 game board limit per user

Post by bläcktonfisk »

I'm playing traditional 1 on 1 card games and I wonder if it's possible to limit how many times the same player can join your boards in at the same time? Namely, I would set it to 1. It has happened before that there is one enthusiastic player who I love playing with but not 2 or 3 games at the same times - I would prefer to play one game faster with them and then rematch. I would like BGA to keep my other boards open to other players, not that one player. Is it possible to configure the match algoritm or permissions somewhere?

I only know one option: give this player red thumb and then remove it when you are ready to play with him again.

Uh, does giving a red thumb have some other unintended consequences elsewhere? Can the other player see it?

I don't really play regular board games, just 52 card games. Is it a very useful feature to have N parallel games with the same people?

No. The other player can't see it without some effort, and they'd have to be motivated to specifically go looking for it.

It's a personal preference. Some people play dozens or more boards of the same turn-based game. If there is a small player base, your only choice may be to play the same person a lot.

I am not sure, but I think giving that player a red thumb during a game might exclude them from this ongoing game (I never tried this.)

Why don't you just ask this player not to join in more than one of your games at a time?

How would that even work? It would just expel them? Abandon the game without their consent?

Definitely not. The game continues normally.

I had two such cases in different card games. It's possible they are manually clicking everything they see but could it also be that BGA search for game does it automatically for them?

I don't know, it seems like a cool feature to open 4 boards and have 4 different players assigned instead of me "renegotiating" who and when can join my boards with everyone manually.
