So I've scrolled through a bunch of top players looking at their win rate, games played, and bust rate. It appears that really good players can sit around a 60% win rate which is impressive for a game that outwardly looks like a 50-50 luck game. Deep within are some fun statistics with optimal lanes (6,7,8) followed by (5,7,8) and (6,7,9) and funny enough (5,6,7) and (7,8,9) are significantly worse since they are all on a single half of the board. Three even numbers give an advantage over three odd numbers. Anyway, enough meandering through the fun statistics of it all.
The question is should I push or should I stop? Many yelling out "Can't Stop" as they throw the dice again hoping to close out a column only to lose all their progress.
So what is better? Pushing aggressively or conserving progress frequently? The answer: they are both viable strategies. You would think at the top level there would be a certain bust rate that arises among 1000s of games as the best way to play, but no. Players with a 60% win rate or higher and have played 1000+ games have anywhere from a 45% bust rate to an 18% bust rate. So perhaps if you are losing progress 50% or more of the time or saving progress on 90% or more of your turns you might have to adjust your gameplay a bit, but outside of that there isn't a "solved" strategy. You gotta read each game as its own monster to conquer. You might just come back 0-2 to win from some last second aggression.
