FDHenneberg wrote: 11 December 2025, 11:24 While using the forum repeatedly just to find a table may not be appropriate, I think it’s perfectly ok to have a thread looking for recurrent players, I’ve seen that often. They then add each other as friends. Alternatively, you could start a group on BGA or a Discord server. AFAIK, there are no rules against “manual matchmaking”. In fact, that’s mainly what BGA groups are used for. Some board gaming podcasts have BGA groups of their own, this is generally also a great way to find like-minded players.
Ok fair enough, so for lack of forum now - any active Euro time zone player that wants to connect and play more active game (5 moves a day) - add me as friend and we try to pull something together!
I created a BGA group, called Twilight Imperium 4 Turn-Based (https://boardgamearena.com/group?id=19528967) for players in Alpha who want to test full turn-based games of TI4, and have a message board to try finding like-minded players. I will also try to moderate it and remove quitters (unless it is due to a game bug).

Is there a way to join the alpha or is it luck of the draw from people who previously showed interest?

I forgot to mention.

If anyone still wants to test, and is on BGA often enough to finish games, you can PM me "I know the rules".

If there is a chance someone will get upset or quit, it is best not to join at this time, since these are in part testing games.

Bonjour,

Je souhaiterais rejoindre les alpha test pour TI4 svp.

Je connais très bien les règles du jeu de base et celles des 2 extensions également 👍.

Cordialement

Oh, without a time limit, the games barely progress :(

Thank you for your work in this game.

I wonder if it is possible to have real time games with long time allotments for each player rather than playing in turn based. In turn based the turns are extremely slow, which may suit some or many players, but I feel many others would prefer the game to be completed at a much faster time. Even if this "faster time" is 3-6 hours, or more, that would be a vast improvement to the games I am playing - which is taking several days.

I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter, and congratulations on all the great work that has been put into this adaptation. The UI in particular is so detailed, responsive, and helpful compared to anything else in BGA

Thank you for the kind words.

The normal turn based timer options should become available in beta, though it is still a very long game in general.

In the physical world, it is typical for games to take 6+ hours.
