Discarding

Many of the hype cards say discard a card or ingredient before cooking.
How to discard?
I had it happen once automatically - the option came up to cook with hype card X and when I clicked the game auto did the cooking and made the discard - but every other time I haven't had the option, even though I can make the discard required.
Am I missing something?

Addendum - the discard seems to work when playing solo, but not multiplayer.

Just click the extra dice as part of the recipe!

If you need to discard a hype card before cooking, this is done automatically. You can have no more than 2 hype cards, and if you use one that requires to discard another hype card, both cards get discarded.

If you need to discard a die, just select the additional die when choose the ingredients. The game automatically detects that you have selected an additional die.
