角のデフォルメが素晴らしいです。最初に見た時には青い稲光かと思いました。

世界的な人気を受けて、ハーモニーズの原画展などが開かれたりしませんかね？　本国フランスには美術館も多いことだし。

日本のボードゲーム屋で初めてハーモニーズをプレイした時、仲間たちと「このカードの動物は何だろう？」と話題になりました。
「オタマジャクシ？」「カブトガニ？」「エイ？」「エイなら川じゃなくて海の生き物じゃないか？」などと話し合っているうちに、誰かがネットで調べて「南米のアマゾン川に住む淡水エイもいるらしい！」と判明しました。そういう知識に出会えるボードゲームは素敵ですね。

その後、水族館まで淡水エイを見に行って、「南米大陸には昔、大きな内海があった」とか「アンデス山脈が隆起して内海が陸地に取り込まれ、アマゾン川となった」といったダイナミックな知識とも出合えました。もともと海に住んでいた生き物たちが環境の変化に適応し、淡水で生きられる体に進化したのだそうで……そんな歴史的背景を知ると、ハーモニーズのエイのカードにますます愛着が涌いてきます。

Another big reason why the ray may be my favorite card is because of something extraordinary that happened during the final of the Harmonies Lotus tournament (where we met in quarter finals, I believe).

The tournament was played with 4 players, on side B, without spirits. During the final, I was having a decent game, not great, probably not enough to win. I went for the bat on my first turn, hoping to get the ray at some point, but it didn't come, so I had to delay things and opt for the frog instead. But I kept hoping for the ray, and on my penultimate turn, figuring that it was my only chance of winning, I decided to set up my board for a ray that wasn't there.

When they played their last move, the player before me decided to pick up a card, probably to prevent the player after me from getting it. But in doing so, they offered me the victory: the ray was revealed on my last turn, giving me a free 16 points along with the perfect set of tiles to finish my board beautifully. I ended up winning that final by a good margin, thanks to that last minute ray apparition.

So, in a way, the ray is an important card for both of us, for different reasons.

tbhpさんのようなトッププレイヤーともなれば、ブロックプレイの攻防も熾烈なことでしょうね……最後の最後で欲しかったカードやトークンの組み合わせが出たときの感動はよく分かります。

「レイ」のカードに描かれた淡水エイは、南米を流れるアマゾン川に棲息しているそうです。このアマゾン川、もともとは海だったのが、地殻変動によって陸地に囲まれ、長い年月をかけて淡水の川に変貌したのだとか。
もともと海水で生きていた魚たちには致命的な変化ですが、新たな環境で生き残るため、淡水で生きられるように進化したのが現在の淡水エイなのだそうです。
「ゲーム終盤、絶体絶命の状況で出てきたレイのカード」というのも、なんだか象徴的ですね。

Yeah, I can see your last point. The ray managed to survive a dire situation. All the more symbolical as Harmonies is a game where the environment is constantly changing, and where you have to be able to adapt.

It often feels like that when you end up winning a game that seemed probably lost. Chaos and despair turn to relief and beauty, just as the tectonic shifts became the beautiful Amazon River where the ray can now live peacefully.
