Tournament tiebreakers

Post by charliec247 »

I recently started playing tournaments and noticed that the tiebreaker for round robin standings is point differential. What happens if someone concedes before game ends? Would the final score just be 1-0 and thus massively screw up tiebreaker math compared to if games played out to their natural conclusion?

On a similar note, what about situations where the game has reached its maximum duration and thus a winner must be immediately determined?

AFAIK you cannot concede in a tournament game.

you can't concede but you can kick some one, depending on the settings.

If no one is kicked, the winner is the guy with the most remaining time (and there rest is sorted with that criteria as well).

Point differential? That feels like a different game, I always go for the end if I can reach it while ahead. But for those games the engine player with a small lead should stall it out another generation for a larger margin of victory

Sounds to me like a standard BGA tournament option that is being applied to a game where this criterion does not make any sense.
