Hello...

We are playing this for a while now with some friends since Summer and have various games launched in parallel. It's so cool to not have a day blocked to play this awesome game! So thanks for your hard work!

Do you plan in a far far future to also handle the first expansion of TI4 (prophecy of kings) although I can understand it is quite some work to handle!

Thanks again!

Hi,
first time posting ever on the BGA forum.
I have been checking this thread every few months since the beginning. I was wondering: what timeline are you aiming for to release the final (or perhaps open bèta) of this game? I am eager to give it a go :D !

I think it will be released soon, the base game is complete and at the moment the author says that there isnt any planned expansion in development.

So the Necrovirus was the last thing that needed implementing other than perhaps some bug fixes?

There is a trade card change, technology card change, a massive amount of potential work to make zombie mode functional in all cases, and some BGA required GUI changes.

After that, it is up to BGA if and when they approve beta.

In 2026 we might have 3 digital versions of Twilight Imperium.

1. GTSchemer's version here on BGA
2. The web version you get access to with the purchase of the physical game
3. The Steam version from Red Square Games

In 2027 GTSchemer will implement cross-play between all 3 versions

Would it be possible to negotiate the zombie mode? I think the players complete removal from the game would be a better answer; all planets empty etc. It gives a more fair free for all to grab them (even if neighbours will have an advantage) and rewards quick action and from that point on everyone can plan with known facts. Having a zombie player who chooses strategy cards illogically and plays them at random and never move ships will still result in neighbours having an advantage to take over systems, but with randomness that destroys the game. Spending that time on PoK would be much better for everyone.

Another option would be that generic ships (no upgrades) and structures stays on board, all abilities and techs gone.

No, it was asked and BGA was extremely strict about it being an absolute requirement, not player elimination.

I didn't knew there was some required GUI changes as to me it seems fine, I wonder what those are?

But I know all other bga games have "zombie mode" player skip features when someone leaves. Even if there is a leaver, because you commit so much time in a TI4 game, I think some players would stay to play it out, so it will be a more useful feature than you may think perhaps. Many times a player leaving the game have almost no board presence (, but sometimes its other reasons). When I play Maracaibo which is a game I like, a very long game which is frustrating to have leavers in (many underestimate that they have to commit 2-3 hours in one 3 player session), I like to play it out if its nearly at the end because that's also a very long game and I hate to just leave the game to not finish it. I like to play out the longs games, but maybe no everyone likes that.

Actually I would look forward to test it in beta as soon as possible, I would like to try a few random games in live play instead with only friends and try to see how long a game can be if I can commit a free weekend day for it.

Unless the webversion has seen a major update, it was completely 'unplayable' with 85% of the participants going inactive after just 1 tot 2 days without penalizing them. Tried 8 games on it, then gave up.
