time limits of games listed anywhere fore real time slow vs normal vs fast

Post by WeatherWimp »

Different games seem to have different times for the realtime settings which makes sense with different rules. But is there a list anywhere of what they are?

For instance, in Catan I think "Normal" realtime is 4 minutes, but before starting a "Fast" realtime how do I know how long that is going to be? Same for slow?

Is there something on each game's page I'm missing that indicates this?

There is if you're joining the table manually via the Play Now (old lobby) UI. I suspect there isn't on the new lobby (game page) UI, nor if you're joining tables automatically.

You can see the info on any table though - if you click on a table in your recent games, you can see the table configuration on the left. This info is shown the same way if you click on a table before joining from the old lobby. You can also go to this screen for games in progress by clicking on the BGA logo while in the game, though from in the game, I think the info may also be available under the Options section if you scroll down below the game board (I'm not currently running any RT tables to be able to check).

That's not correct. It isn't easy to find though: You can see this information when starting from the game page if you hover your mouse over the "Game duration ~ 52 min." indication (example of Catan 4 player normal speed). In a running or past game, you can find it via the "hamburger menu" (i.e., after clicking on the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner).

Language is a source of misunderstanding. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery: The Little Prince) But it is also the source of understanding - it all depends on how you use it. :-)

Another place to find it in a running game is down below the play area under the Options tab.

Yeah I did wonder if it was somewhere, but was assuming not based on the OP's post. I don't use that interface a lot, and I don't often look at the timings in either place, but I know it's pretty obvious in the old lobby UI, but obviously less so in the new UI. Thanks for the correction!
