Pit Stops & WPs

I have read that when my car enters the pits, i will get all 18 WPs back. This is fine, but there are 20 WPs.
My more important concern is that I don't get all 18 WPs back. The only WPs that get replenished are for tires, back up to 6. Gears and brakes, two of the more commonly used WPs, remain at the reduced allowance.

I have played quite a few Solo races and this is the case for me. I have not paid attention to what happens when I am playing a multi-player game with my friends. So I do't know if the same is true.

No doubt, I am missing something. I would be grateful for any assistance.

There are 2 rulesets, Formula De, with WP assigned to car parts (tires, motor, etc), and Formula De Mini, with SP shared for all loss reasons, in that race mode you have 18 SP.

In Formula De, tires WP are free in Pit Stops, other might be repaired if you have dedicated repair points. In FD Mini, you get all 18 SP when running multi laps.

Thank you very much Wolfjager! I have been playing in Formula De. I appreciate the explanation of the differences in regards to this rule between the two different versions. I expected that I was missing something. Again, thank you!
