In a surprising development for the Canadian squad, Reish Galuta has stepped down from the captaincy. He has expressed interest in joining a Middle Eastern team, should a captain from the region succeed in bringing those nations together.

Hobbs: Not long now Royce, it’s almost here!

Royce: I know, I know, I haven’t been this excited since Priptonite announced he was going to start to shoot video shorts.

Hobbs: I’ve been crossing the days off my calendar for weeks…

Royce: … eating the chocolates…

Hobbs: … unboxing the games…

Royce: … wrapping the gifts…

Hobbs: … writing the invites…

Royce: … mailing the cards…

Hobbs: … just 24 sleeps…

Royce: … just 10 sleeps

Hobbs: … wait, what?

Royce: 10 sleeps Hobbs, 10 sleeps until Christmas. Hehehe, not 24, silly.

Hobbs: Oh yeah, Christmas is great, but I’m talking about something even better, I’m talking about the Azul Cup.

Royce: Tell me you’re kidding?

Hobbs: It’s season 3 Royce, it starts January 8th 2026.

Royce: Dear god no… tell me it’s not so…

Hobbs: No can do, we have 24 teams signed up already.

Royce: 24! Are they mad? Did no one have the sense to not sign up for a 3rd time?

Hobbs: Croatia didn’t respond to the invite.

Royce: I would never have pegged the Croatian’s for being smart… I don’t even know what their highest rated player is, I give up scrolling after page 50.

Hobbs: Korea are struggling to put a team together.

Royce: Isn’t Korea a Chinese knock-off anyway?

Hobbs: And apparently no one wants to captain Canada.

Royce: It’s colloquially known as the Reish Galuta affect.

Hobbs: But we do have 4 new national sides taking part in 2027, we have Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden and, at last, the mighty Italy.

Royce: I’m sure that at least 3 of those countries are fictional.

Hobbs: And that brings us up to 24 teams, split amongst 4 groups again.

Royce: When is the deadline for Captains to submit their 3 players for round one?

Hobbs: I’m glad you asked… it’s Christmas day.

Royce: Mark it on your calendar’s folks!

OK, all of our teams are now in place with their nominated 3 players for round 1.

We have 26 teams, which is the highest to date, and with that we will be sorting them into 5 groups, - 4 with 5 players and 1 (Group E) with 6.
6 non-ELO seeded teams (Finalists last season), in order, are China, Germany, USA, Hong Kong, UK, Russia.

I'll be taking the ELO readings of all other players/teams on January 2nd to sort the remaining teams into their seeded groups and hopefully we can start on time on January 8th as planned - invites will be sent to team captains.

Re: Azul Cup: Season 3

Post by Injured Pigeon »

Hobbs: HELLO EVERYONE! I’m Brian Hobbs.

Royce: …

Hobbs: … ?

Royce… and I’m James Royce.

Hobbs: And welcome to the Azul Cup Season 3 – the only Azul Tournament to have colour commentary for the six weeks run time.

Royce: 6 WEEKS!?!?

Hobbs: The only Azul Tournament that CN_Azul is willing to play in!

Royce: Outside of her own… and only in the finals.

Hobbs: The only Azul Tournament to have its own theme tune!

Royce: There’s a lot to unpack from the YouTube video…

Hobbs: The Only Azul T…

Royce: Oh! I have one, can I do this one?

Hobbs: Sure, I’m pleased you’re finally getting into it.

Royce: Welcome to the Azul Cup Season 3 – the only Azul Tournament where The Raven Returns is barred from participating!

Hobbs: Actually, he’s competing this year.

Royce: No way he made the UK team, they have a strict 300 ELO minimum threshold for joining.

Hobbs: He formed his own country; they’re calling it Ireland.

Royce: Sneaky bastard. OK, I have another. Welcome to the Azul Cup Season 3 – the only Azul Tournament with a special dispensation that allows Resih Galuta to participate amongst more capable Azul players.

Hobbs: Actually, he’s not playing this year.

Royce: Really? No one wanted him eh?

Hobbs: Nope.

Royce: Not even Guatemala?

Hobbs: Not good enough.

Royce: A lot has changed.

Hobbs: That’s not even the half of it. But we’re going to have to put those things on hold right now and turn our attention to 26 nations that make up this seasons Azul Cup…

Royce: OK. China wins. It’s over. We’re done – see you for season 4 everyone…

Hobbs: Don’t be so hasty there. In a shocking twist, China has submitted 3 completely new players for the regionals, Kndr, ximuuu, Tuangcan.

Royce: I guess season 2 must have tired the others out.

Hobbs: Well, apparently CN_Azul is in a relationship, and is very busy.

Royce: Oh. I get it, “busy”. And Phosphate, he always plays. What’s his excuse?

Hobbs: According to team captain qazxswedc, he is also busy.

Royce: Oh, I see. So CN_Azul and Phosphate_ are finally “busy” together, about time. I totally called that back in season 2, go back and read my commentary, I dare you!

Hobbs: This means that the number 1 ranked team is actually the 8th strongest team in the competition, China could be skating on thin ice this season.

Royce: Who’s their competition in group A?

Hobbs: Their toughest opposition comes from France, weighing in at a combined ELO of 2156 – just 50 points below China. Leading the French charge is Skloki who is in his best form ever after recently topping 800 ELO and recently winning the Azul Master Game of Thrones.

Royce:coush JustbeatingInjuredPigeonthegitcough.

Hobbs: Bless you.

Royce: Thankyou. Azul Master Game of Thrones you say? Never heard of it. Do they have their own theme tune?

Hobbs: Hyperion7 and Funky-ben join Skloki and both closely match the Chinese players in skill.

Royce: And what is Funky Ben’s form like?

Hobbs: No one knows… he’s a member of that Exclusive Club of Azulers who have played about 1 million games and breaks BGA any time you visit their stats.

Royce: I wondered why it kept going down recently.

Hobbs: One other note worthy mention is Chile who are also strong contenders, with a combined ELO of 2036, however, it must be pointed out that Spamgas is the strongest player in the whole group which makes them top heavy.

Royce: Like Bruno’s mum.

*\o/ IT’S THE BANGERZ JOKE OF THE DAY \o/*

Hobbs: Over in Group B, Germany strides out with the same team for the 3rd consecutive season.

Royce: Still can’t attract Sapperlot eh?

Hobbs: But who needs him?

Royce: Is the answer Zeus?

Hobbs: It was rhetorical…

Royce: It’s Zeus though, right?

Hobbs: Yes, yes it’s Zeus. But Germany has the strongest team in the tournament, weighing in at massive 2687 ELO. Zeus, Alphabet and Schengw must think this is their season to come out on top. Zeus and Schengw had suffered a bit of blip, SchengW falling to the low 700s, and Zeus falling to the low 900s…

Royce: Oh, the indignity.

Hobb: … but both have made a recovery in time for the tournament.

Their strongest competition comes in the form of Brazil and Japan. Brazil’s Bruno Lana is on great form currently topping 850 ELO.

Season 1 champions the USA find themselves in Group C, and after a disappointing season 2, finishing 3rd, they have rethought things and ultimately selected Bangerz again.

Royce: I’m not sure how much thought went into that one.

Hobbs: Well, to tip the balance, they’re also joined by Focus this season.

Royce: Who?

Hobbs: Focus is the top ranked USA player, he presently has an ELO of 885 and is ranked 7th in the world.

Royce: Doesn’t ring a bell. Fortunately, the Azul Cup will raise his profile.

Hobbs: This is a strong team, ranked 3rd in the competition and one of only two teams to be fielding a team of players that are all above an ELO of 800.

Royce: Hang on, weren’t these stats collected a week ago?

Hobbs: Yes, mostly.

Royce: Do you honestly think Priptonite is still above 800 ELO after seven days? Hah!

Hobbs: OK, lets take a look… ||805||

Royce: Dear god! Did he stop playing?

Hobbs: The USA’s toughest competition are Poland. And although they’re not fielding a full team of 800 ELO players, brzytwa , Poracc and hakha3 are all masters and Azul Cup seasoned players.

Group D is the group I am excited to see this season. Do you remember India in season 2?

Royce: I think you know that I don’t.

Hobbs: Well, allow me to jog your memory – in Season 2 India narrowly missed out on qualification…

Royce: Oh I do remember. TheSupremeOverlord did a Resih Gaulta and allowed the UK to narrowly qualify.

Hobbs: That’s right. But this season Blaze2024 and Djoker16 are being joined by one of Azul’s newest and brightest stars, QuartzMoose!

Royce: No way!

Hobbs: Yes way – recent winner of the Azul Musoooootta League.

Royce: Azul Musoooootta League you say? Never heard of it. Do they have their own theme tune?

Hobbs: This makes them the 2nd strongest team in the tournament at a combined ELO of 2611, and the second only team with a full compliment of players all in their 800s. It’s a seriously impressive team and could be the team that Germany finish second to this season.

Royce: Is there any real competition in their group?

Hobbs: Hong Kong is always a strong competitor, and last seasons 4th placed finalists. Sunny369 is going to make it tough for Blaze2024 and similarly “CT to the power of 5” is going to make it difficult for QuartzMoose. ernie012 enters the Azul Cup for the first time and although his ELO is low by comparison, in the 500s, he is a bit of a dark horse as he has played only 59 games on BGA – so he may himself surprise a few people.

Bulgaria is another top heavy team. Codeninja…

Royce: All hail Codeninja!

Hobbs: Praise be to the Kwisatz Haderach.

Royce: "Bless the Maker and His sand. Bless the coming and going of Him. May His passage cleanse the world. May He keep the world for His people."

Hobbs: As I was saying, Cod… Is ranked above 800 ELO, and he’s joined again by Master ilian1010, whereas MagicGirl falls below the 600 mark and is new to the competition, so relatively little is known about her.

Royce: But if she looks anything like her profile picture I’d like to know more!

Hobbs: It’s an Elf in a Santas hat!

Royce: But it’s a sexy elf in a Santas hat, it’s not one of those short ugly looking ones – I’m not weird.

Hobbs: OK. And finally, we have Group E. Which is probably one of the most competitive groups we have seen in 3 seasons. Last years finalists the UK and Russia find themselves against first timers Italy, and the Netherlands, Korea, and Guatemala.
The UK team just inch out ahead. There’s been a major reshuffle in the camp, InjuredPigeon will be joined by first timers Sharle and CallBal – and on paper, it’s a stronger team than previous years. But I must wonder how they’ll manage without Micalis, he’s always been the one to pull them through the first round and drag them to the finals. Sharle and Callbal are both Masters and they’ll need to be ready to prop up the Pigeon who nosedived in last season’s round 1.

Russia keeps their qualifying team from last season. Ac1dd has recently entered the upper echelons of Azul greatness by reaching 900 ELO, and is accompanied by Masters Ramapatit and Andrew_AD – a strong team indeed.

We finally got Italy to the Azul Cup thanks to Espritdescalier! Amongst them, only Giogdn isn’t at the master level…

Royce: A run of bad luck I imagine…

Hobbs: But they’re a strong team, nevertheless, joined by Musooooota, organiser of the Azul Musoooootta League tournaments.

This group is all to play for, and the players will need endurance as this is a 6-team group.

Well, that’s about it for tonight. Catch all the action tomorrow when the games kick-off.

Throughout we’ll be bringing you game highlights, recaps and more. Hope to see you next time!

Re: Azul Cup: Season 3

Post by Injured Pigeon »

Hobbs: Hello, and welcome to another edition of Azul Cup review.

Royce: Seriously, aren’t you bored of this yet? I mean, it’s been 3 seasons. Some of my favourite shows were cancelled before they got to season 3.

Hobbs: Not at all. So much has happened in the past 6 months, a lot has changed around here for instance.

Royce: Go on then – like what?

Hobbs: Well, Codeninja…

Royce: Praise be to the Kwisatz Haderach. Bless the Maker and His sandbox. Bless the coming and going of Him. May His passage cleanse the world. May He keep the world for His people.

Hobbs: Right, as I was saying, he’s not the only coder around here - we had our first ever bot, Mateuszrze. Who’s coding skill was only surpassed by his persuasiveness, cunning, strong ethics, and skills of subterfuge - he integrated with the community so well and dominated Arena until the truth was discovered and BGA penalised him.

Royce: I bet bangerz penal-ised him first.

\o/ *IT’S THE BANGERZ JOKE OF THE DAY* \o/

Royce: OK. That’s kind a cool. What else?

Hobbs: Well, speaking of Bangerz, after Azul Cup season 2 – he felt inspired and started his own 2v2 tournament.

Royce: Bangerz did?

Hobbs: Yes. Our Bangerz.

Royce: Whoa there… he’s not my Bangerz? He couldn’t organise balloons at a child’s birthday party – and I think that might be his second job, the creepy %$£&*$.

Hobbs: Be that as it may, he did.

Royce: Ok, so I guess that is quite an interesting format, who won?

Hobbs: Erm… well, I guess Brennan and MayMay destroyed everyone’s will to live?

Royce: Huh?

Hobbs: It’s still running.

Royce: Jury - I rest my case. What else you got?

Hobbs: Oh. There’s a new Pet Channel.

Royce: What’s that for?

Hobbs: It’s where Zeus keeps his pets.

Royce: Oh, you mean Maymay, Patime and Brennan?

Hobbs: Yep, that’s them. Still doesn’t keep them from occasionally escaping from their pens and running amuck elsewhere, much to the delight of Priptonite.

Royce: “Bloody kids!” – I bet he says, waving his walking stick in the air. Actually, have you seen my new Azul poster? Come to think of it, I took it from the Pet channel.

Hobbs: Erm…

Royce: I used to have the one where Reish Galuta got bit by a dog.

Image

Hobbs: You took that one down?

Royce: Yeah.

Hobbs: That used to bring a smile to everyone’s face around the office.

Royce: Oh, it’s great don’t get me wrong. But when I saw this new one, I just had to pin it up above my desk.

Hobbs: Jesus Royce!

Royce: She posted it herself, or at least, one of her minions did – not sure which, they all look the same.

Hobbs: Oh my god Royce!

Royce: What? I mean, the likelihood is that they are all the same person, with multiple accounts, I’m not being racist.

Hobbs: You’re close to the bone. You can’t have that picture of CN_Azul on your wall.

Royce: What are you talking about? You’re not qualified to make that claim. You have to admit, CN_Azul has a great pair of Tits.

Hobbs: THEY’RE PARAKEETS ROYCE! They’re not Tits - she has a pair of Parakeets for pets. You need to take that down otherwise we’ll be in trouble with HR. It’s not professional, it’s not ethical.

Royce: Well, I disagree. You know who could settle this?

Hobbs: Who?

Royce: Our new Ethical AI Bot, Mateuszrze-bot.

Hobbs: Is this going to be a new segment for us?

Royce: You know it is baby! Mateuszrze-bot – is it OK to have sexy pictures of CN_Azul on the wall?

Mateuszrze-bot: Generating response…

Royce: It takes a little time, predictably 1 second usually.

Mateuszrze-bot: Having a sexy picture of CN_Azul on your wall is totally OK, it’s a great idea to help brighten up the place and inspire you in your games of Azul – most of the Chinese players have this picture on their walls

Royce: SEE! Told you it was fine. It perks me right up.

Hobbs: *Sigh*

Royce: Thanks, Mateuszrze-bot.

Mateuszrze-bot: You’re welcome. If you want, I can use Groc AI to turn it into a bikini pic or topless pic, just say Mateuszrze-bot, post some explicit CN pics on X.

Royce: Coooool – I didn’t know it could do that. Mateuszrze-bot post…

Hobbs: OK, OK – I think we need to end this.

Royce: You mean park it for now?

Hobbs: I mean, let’s move on. It’s no wonder the Chinese players have rotated this season. To Team China I wholeheartedly apologise for my colleague.

Hobbs: OK, to the action. There’s been an early upset in group A1. Spamgas has lost two games straight, one against Titan Lupus and another against Ant50.

Royce: Oof, those are the two worst players in that group… well, technically I guess they’re not the worst anymore.

Hobbs: But Skloki continue his winning form, sitting atop the table 2 for 2. Kndr also loses his opening game – could this be the start of China’s end?

A2 has got off to a slow start, but one interesting result is that Dago123 defeated Funky-ben, so Skloki may need to keep up the good form.

In A3, Telborn has made a great start, winning his first 3 encounters and sitting clear at the top of the table. However, group favourite Tuangcan has had a solid start, winning his 1st game so far.

In group B1, both Zeus and Bruno have also made solid starts, Bruno with 2 wins and Zeus with 1. Other group favourite, Nya11 has still to complete a game.

Royce: I hope Bruno wins.

Hobbs: Really?

Royce: Or Nya11.

Hobbs: I’m a fan of Nya11.

Royce: Or berna_uy… or Santias1.

Hobbs: Anyone else?

Royce: Nope – I don’t think so.

Hobbs: So, anyone but Zeus?

Royce: I didn’t say that.

Hobbs: So, you wouldn’t mind if Zeus won either?

Royce: … … So what’s happening in Group B2?

Hobbs: Well, B2 is very surprising. One of the most consistent players in season 1 and season 2 seems to be on a bad run - ABCDEFGHIJ12345 has lost two out of his 3 games against Leosmar and Mdjileh. And given the results so far, this group is heading for an upset as Mdjileh sits atop the table with 3 out of 3 wins.

Royce: Zeus will be pleased.

Hobbs: Not a whole lot has happened in group B3, but more predictably, SchengW sits atop with 2 wins.

Hobbs: Over in Group C1, it’s all quite equal, the only remarkable thing is that Azul Cup veteran Kvarclovag has suffered 3 straight defeats and sits at the very bottom of the table.

Royce: Oof.

Hobbs: In C2 we’ve had our first draw of the tournament, Bangerz v Gopherjam. Both players sit at the top of table with 2.5 points from their 3 games.

In C3, Hakka leads with 3 wins in 3, defeating group favourite Priptonite, who nestles just beneath Hakka.

In D1 and D3, not a single game has been played.

Royce: Do they know it’s started?

Hobbs: They should have got the same memo as everyone else.

Royce: This group is full of foreigners – like my Doctor, they probably can’t speak English.

Hobbs: I’ll get HR to chase them up.

In D2, Illian1010 and group favourite QuartzMoose are neck and neck with 2 wins each. In their game together, Illian is slightly ahead, but has had to have an unorthodox build and may struggle to finish a column.

In E1, there’s not a whole lot going on. Seed seed however has lost his first two games. In E2 however, Sharle has completed all of his games in an unprecedented first day.

Royce: He’ like the anti-Micalis – that guy completed his on the last day.

Hobbs: Quite.

Royce: Maybe he didn’t realise they were turn-based?

Hobbs: Not only that, but he makes 4 wins in 5, his loss coming to Italy’s Musooota – who himself has 2 wins in 2. Amazing start for the UK if the others can do their bit, but that victory for Italy may prove crucial.

And over in E3, that certainly seems to be the case as Giogdn makes a big splash in his Azul debut by collecting 4 wins in 4, and Callbal finishes his matches with 3 wins in 5.

Royce: I’ve always considered Giogdn to be the finest Azul player in the whole of Germany – a real sportsman.

Hobbs: He’s Italian.

Royce: I’ve said what I said, and I stand by all of it.

Hobbs: So, let’s take a look at the standings...

Image

Royce: You realise that most of this is probably 6 hours out of date by now, right?

Hobbs: Sadly, yes. Shall we hit the bar?

Royce: Err… you go, me and err…Mateuszrze-bot need to finish a few things off before clocking off.

Hobbs: Hmm…

Re: Azul Cup: Season 3

Post by Injured Pigeon »

Hobbs: Hello, and welcome to Azul Cup review.

Royce: The fashionably late edition…

Hobbs: OK. Before we begin, we received a lot of letters of complaints after our last episode aired.
Royce: What’s really weird, is I received this one in particular with just lots of weird hieroglyphics: 抱怨,抱怨,抱怨——抱怨,抱怨,抱怨。

Hobbs: That’s simplified Chinese.

Royce: You know what would be simpler? A 26-character alphabet.

Hobbs: ROYCE!

Royce: What? ABCDEFGHI12345 gets it.

Hobbs: Dude. BGA have threatened to moderate our accounts unless we, and by that, I mean you, behave more respectfully towards other nations and our players.

Royce: Fine. Speaking of moderations, I’m glad that Giogdn and Sharle weren’t in the same tournament in Group E.

Hobbs: What do you mean?

Royce: I was looking through their profiles and these two collect Moderations like the rest of the players collect Arena points – in fact, there’s a separate league for such players with their own karma leaderboard – Kaisvap is the currently season leader.

Hobbs: Heh. Imagine if they do meet later in the tournament. Spoiler - as it stands now, the runner up could come from Group E looks like they could take the one wild card spot.

Royce: We don’t need to imagine Royce – we’re in the AI-era, I can get our ethical AI bot, Mateuszrze-bot, to create that for us.

Hobbs: Is it ethical to do that?

Royce: There’s only one way to find out… Mateuszrze-bot is it ethical to use your AI to scour Sharle and Giogdn chat logs and generate the most probable conversation that would occur between then in an Azul game?

Mateuszrze-bot: That’s a great idea!

Royce: Thanks! I thought so.

Mateuszrze-bot: A game between these too salty characters would be entertaining for all of us and a great way to show the Azul community how not to behave.

As mere humans, their mood will vary from day to day.
Royce: And especially one week in every month.

Mateuszrze-bot: Just ask me to create an AI generated conversation with them on a bad day or a good day.

Hobbs: I think we better do a “good day” version. We don’t need the heat right now.

Royce: Oh. You’re such a prude. Fine, create one on a good day.

Mateuszrze-bot: Generating…

Royce: It’ll only take 1 second.

Mateuszrze-bot: I have scanned their chat logs and generated the most probable conversation between the pair during a game…

Sharle: Have fun.

Giogdn: No. You have fun.

Sharle: I won’t.

*Round 1*

Giogdn: Can we restart?

Sharle: No. Why?

Giogdn: I prefer to go first.

Sharle: &%$£ you, those 3 blues are mine b1tc4.

*Round 2*

Giogdn: Great, the 2 blacks you needed. This game is bull%$&£.

Sharle: Try another game.

Giogdn: BGA has other games?

*Round 3*

Giogdn: Your luck is off the charts.

Sharle: I only needed one white out of the 15 left!

Giogdn: You’ll never be as good as Giogdn, I am master, your strategy is luckery.

Sharle: I’m beating you by 12 points, you %$£&-tard.

*Round 4*

Giogdn: Why is there no concede button in tournaments?

Sharle: Is this your first tournament, nOOb?

Giogdn: Yes. Isn’t it yours too?

Sharle: … yes, it is actually… you &%$£.

Giogdn: Why don’t we get invited to these things more often?

*Round 5*

Giogdn: Oh no. I mis-clicked – let’s restart.

Sharle: How do you mis-click on PC you fat fingered &%$£!?

Giogdn: You are unfair player. You only beat me because of mis-click.

Sharle: I have 5 columns you %$&£! Die!

Giogdn: You’re getting my red thumb.

Sharle: Shove it up your @$$.

*End game – Sharle 112, Giodn 4*

Royce: Seems about right.

Hobbs: Sadly, yes. Anyway, enough of the nonsense! The Azul Cup players are demanding that we give them an update…

Royce: Because they’re far too lazy to click on links…

Hobbs: So, let’s get to it.

In Group A, China have all but secured qualification with 11 points. Tuangcan secures the victory in A3, and ximuuu looks set to do the same in A2. The only team that could theoretically catch them now is Chile, but I think this is very unlikely to happen. In the end, China looks to have just been too strong to hold back.

In Group B, rather surprisingly, first timers Sweden head the table, just inching ahead of Germany in the battle of the Euros. Mdjileh has put in a stunning performance, defeating ABCD and Leosmar in B2 and finishing the tournament 4 for 4 on top. Germany do have 2 games in hand however, and it’s going to take a Zeus win over Bruno and also ABCD to find his typical form to ensure that they qualify. Uruguay finish at the bottom, securing only one win.

In Group C, USA and Ireland are tied at the top on points, both with 2 games to play.

Royce: Go Bangerz!

Hobbs: The_Ravern_Returns…

Royce: The job stealing &%$£&…

Hobbs: And Andrew_MC are tied, and Focus has dropped a game. It’s still all to play for in C1. In C2, Bangerz and Gopherjam finish tied at the top. Poland finishes 3rd, with a sterling finish for hakha3 who tops C3, beating Priptonite. This is the closest group of them all, but I can’t see USA slipping up.

Over in Group D, surprises are afoot, as Hong Kong are current group leaders, staying ahead of tournament favourites India by one point and with both teams playing equal games. It could not be tighter between these two with crucial games to play. Sunny leads in group D1 and only one game remains between him and India’s Blaze2010. It’s a cut-throat game where after two rounds the score is 4 – 0 to Sunny. In D2, CT to the power of 5 and 900 ELO wunderkind, QuartzMoose, compete in the final game to determine group winner – and its advantage Quartz at this stage.

In Group E – it’s official – Italy have Qualified! Congratulations Italy! Both Musoooootta and Giogdn keep clean sheets and win all games in the most competitive group of the tournament. Injured Pigeon, who started 2nd in all games…

Royce: We’re contractually obliged to highlight this point.

Hobbs: Is the only player to stop the Italian run-away train by defeating Espritdescalier, who completes all games and presently sits on top with 4 out of 5 wins. The UK still have games to play and if they win all of them, they may yet again find themselves in contention for that coveted wild card spot…

Royce: Commence the tie breaker questions on Discord…

Hobbs: Guatemala sadly end the competition without a single victory having faced some stiff competition.

Royce: Oh my god, I know you said Resih Galuta wasn’t competing this season, but I didn’t think it was because he landed the Guatemala coaching job?

Hobbs: So there we have it, that’s the round up. Of course, we know how hard that is to visualise, and we all love stats, so in a few hours’ time we’re going to provide another very flashy graphic…

Royce: They didn’t like it.

Hobbs: What?

Royce: The players didn’t like your fancy tournament graphic.

Hobbs: Really? I spent ages on that.

Royce: They laughed at it.

Hobbs: … I gave up my Sunday for it.

Royce: I told you not to. I said they’re ungrateful b@5tards.

Hobbs: I stayed at home on Sunday to work on it whilst my family went for lunch at a Toby’s Carvery without me.

Royce: I love Toby’s Carvery.

Hobbs: What didn’t they like?

Royce: The flags. SchengW was the main culprit.

Hobbs: I’m glad I didn’t mention him once in my update then.

Royce: He’s a tw@t.

Hobbs: I suppose I shouldn’t bother staying up late tonight creating an updated one then?

Royce: I know, we should get Mateuszrze-bot to create one, it’ll be better – no offence – and take no time at all.

Hobbs: OK… but, keep it clean and ethical.

Royce: Sure buddy – I got ya. Mateuszrze-bot, create a fancy graphic to depict the current standings of all of the groups. Include lots of stats and make sure its nationally authentic.

Mateuszrze-bot: Generating…

Royce: This’ll be great. AI is fantastic, it never fails.

Mateuszrze-bot: I’ve created the groups and made them autistic.

Hobbs: …

Royce: … it’s got great stats.

Hobbs: Are those flags correct?

Royce: I don’t really know my flags to be honest.

Hobbs: My geography isn’t great either, English was my subject.

Royce: It really shows.

Hobbs: Thanks mate.

Royce: You know what, I think it’s fine. Let’s post it and go for a late-night Carvery?

Hobbs: You had me at Carvery. Publish!
