I’m looking for some clarification on two specific rules in Scythe. I’ve looked through the rulebook, but I want to make sure my current interpretation is 100% correct. I’m trying to determine if it’s a bug or a gap in my understanding.
1. Tiebreaker: Units in the Home Base
The rulebook states that the first tiebreaker is the total "Number of workers, mechs, and structures."
My question: Do units (workers or mechs) that are currently in a Home Base count toward this total?
My understanding: Since the rule doesn't specify "units on territories" but simply the number of units/structures, I assume that any worker or mech that has been produced/deployed (i.e., is not on the player mat) counts, even if it’s back in the Home Base.
Context: Here is a link to a game where I felt this wasn't counted: https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=791031382 (I am fairly certain the final count was off anyway as it counted the mech in my base but not the workers, but I'd like to know what the correct count should have been in that situation).
2. Building Bonus: Continuous Straight Line
Regarding the building bonus for a "continuous straight line":
My understanding: Because of the hex grid, I assume this must be a perfectly straight line where you could theoretically align a ruler through the centers of all the hexes. This would mean there are only three possible axes for such a line.
My question: Does this mean a vertical line (which would technically "zig-zag" across the hexes on the Scythe board) does not count? Or is the definition of "continuous" more flexible?
I'd appreciate it if someone could confirm if I'm thinking about this the right way! Since this is a beta version, I want to be sure before I report these as bugs.
