Reasons for blocking players

For players who have blocked other player(s):
What are your reasons for doing so?.
Do you ever either forgive / unblock other players or give players another chance to redeem themselves?. If so after how much time?
Do you have any estimate on the amount of players you've blocked?

I don't block people, because if I have a problem with someone, I don't see why I'd want to ignore them. I'd want to talk to them and try to reason with them.

I've been blocked a few times, and while I never got the confirmation, the reason always seemed to be that they didn't like the way I beat them. In one case, my opponent got an OP pick that I managed to counter spectacularly. In another, I waited until the last day to start playing, which they complained to me about, before I proceeded to win handily. In yet another case, it was a real time game that reached its maximum duration, so maybe my opponent was under the impression that I kicked them out or something.

This is to say, none of the reasons I've been blocked appeared to be valid, so I wonder if this is common or if this is just my personal case.

I do not keep track of red thumbs given. I do it if people have timed out or disappeared from the game and still seem to be active elsewhere on the site when I look at their profile. I do it preemptively if they are jerks to other people on the forums. I do it if they display anti-social behaviour during the game or if they gloat too much when they win. Not the standard gg which I honestly don't understand the issue with, but I did have one memorable time where my opponent had to make the very last move in a turnbased game and then they would have won. We happened to be online at the same time, but instead of playing their last turn and then celebrating their win afterwards, they chose to fill the chat with "yaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!" and similar, and, I don't know, run off to do a few victory laps or something, so that after a good ten minutes of that when I had to leave to catch the bus to work, I was forced to look like someone who had stomped off in a huff. Don't gloat, just play your turn. I don't know if they were trying to make me concede or something which a) would be pointless and b) I never do. I don't mind that I lose, but I'm an adult so I do mind when people are childish about winning or losing.

Sometimes I write a little note about it in the little box, but not always. Chances are miniscule that I'll ever actually look at it again.

I have blocked 50 people at least. maybe closer to 100. Most all have been because of slow play in turn-based games. They want to play slow and I want to go quicker. It works out for both of us.

I block players because of disrespectful behavior (for example, they ask me to abandon or switch the game to turn-based mode a turn before defeat), unethical behavior (for example, I accidentally missed a turn due to a bad interface of the game and if the opponent had also missed a turn, the game situation would not have changed, but he refused it and continued playing, as a result, I only made it worse for an extra move ) I don't unlock such players.

Most of the time, I block players for a few weeks if I have a more then 3 games win streak against them.

I have blocked 50 people at least. maybe closer to 100. Most all have been because of slow play in turn-based games. They want to play slow and I want to go quicker. It works out for both of us.

Or you could pick a faster speed. Just an idea.

I always pick the fastest speed. They are free to join fast paced games and play slow, but I want to avoid that.

Then I guess you should probably preëmptively RT me. If I join a turn-based game it’s because I have other things going on and won’t always play immediately. If I have the time to give all my attention to a game, I’ll do real-time. Fair warning, though, I think a lot of people operate this way.

Correct. Many people sign up for a turn-based game that is specifically set up for 12 or 24 turns a day when they know they are not going to keep up.

I haven't blocked anyone and haven't had bad interactions with opponents on this site, but I've also only been here for a few months and do play a fair amount with real life friends who don't live close. I'd probably block someone who verbally abused me, but beyond that I can't think of a reason why I'd personally do it.
