Where could you check if you have blocked people?

I'm going to be vague. There's a way to do it by checking the source code on your profile.

Or you could pick a faster speed. Just an idea.
I always pick the fastest speed. They are free to join fast paced games and play slow, but I want to avoid that.
Turn based is not made for playing in one go. I think what you are looking for is something that doesn’t exist on this website, somewhere between real time and turn based. Similar to how chess players have a few hours to play their tournament games. They can take breaks and take time to think, but they are expected to finish within the day. I’ve always thought that this midpoint was lacking on this site, but maybe it’s not something most people would be willing to commit to.

In effect what happens with fast paced turn based is that people will make the most of the time they have between turns. You can’t exactly expect them to finish as soon as possible just because they picked fast paced. The idea is more to ensure the game won’t go on for too many days.

I’ve also red thumbed people that play slow, meaning that they blatantly ignore the limits set by the mode we’re playing in, no explanation or heads up. I guess that’s also what expoolman is referring to as they explicitly referred to games with a high number of turns a day and people signing up for these without being able to keep the pace (edit: I stopped playing fast turn-based games for other reasons - one does have to know that due to the way matchmaking works, people can join these games without knowing what time zone the number of turns is referring to, if they use the dreaded “modern” way to join games instead of the Play now Lobby in that case, it’s not their fault, so to stop that, please vote for https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=57379 ). You could argue that these people get expelled anyway so you could also hope to avoid them
by setting a restriction on reputation. But a) you need to be premium for opening a table for many games and b) I normally don’t expel people as long as it’s clear that they’re continuing to play, albeit slow.

Plus, I’ve red thumbed players for aggressive comments (also meaning ones that don’t warrant a report, like permanent “?????” or telling you that they’ve destroyed you when they’ve won). As there are no tangible negative consequences for a player when I RT them, I think that’s totally fair.

My main reasons for blocking someone. Real time games. Players that wait till end of timer close to every move in games where it should take seconds to decide. Players that tell me to hurry up when I am playing my turn in a few seconds. Most players I don't think realize when playing someone on the other side of the earth it sometimes takes a few seconds for turn to happen. I know to wait at least 10 seconds for game start if playing euros. Most of all. Quitting. You quit a game. Against me without explanation. Red thumb immediately. And finally. Those Players that can win over a few turns. But dont. Because they wish to try and have a record score or perfect game. That is a sure way to get red thumbed.

It seems a bit hypocritical to blame people for taking longer than you think they should, when you yourself don't like it when they criticize you for the same thing.

All in all, I can't understand the idea of blocking someone just because you don't enjoy the experience of playing against them. In my view, the only "valid" reasons to block someone would be if you consider that they did something immoral. Ignoring someone just because your styles of play are not "compatible" seems like a dehumanizing way to treat someone.

I always pick the fastest speed. They are free to join fast paced games and play slow, but I want to avoid that.
I'm confused. You pick the fastest speed but then give red thumbs to slow players? If you're playing "fast turn based 24 moves per day", what constitutes "playing too slowly"?

If someone used up all of the allotted time then that is too slow by definition.
