Replying with sarcasm, which you do a lot, can certainly be seen as rude.

Perhaps i haven't read the conditions of BGA thoroughly enough -- is there written somewhere that you have to be retired ?
Like that. That right there (twice in a row!) is what I’m pretty sure FrankJones is referring to.
Bingo. Along with a dozen sarcastic posts from the other thread in which this person endlessly berates me.

You didn't read (or didn't understood what i wrote) : In doing so everybody is losing : The person who opened the table will have to wait longer for completion, BGA will have less tables filled/time unit and i will have less tables to choose from.
My personal circumstances are none of your business, but if you knew them, you might feel bad about being rude to me.
Sorry, i haven't noticed that i was rude. There are lots of reasons why someone might be able to stay all day on the site (retired, jobless, ...) and some are harder to live with than others. Just wondering that it seems normal that everybody here on this site should be able to react over a full 12 hours period.
The easiest ways to avoid the situation you described in which everybody suffers is:
1) Play friendly mode. No timers, ever. No matter what happens, the player will no forfeit. Even if it goes 40 days without a move, the game is just neutralized.
2) Play the slowest setting: 1 move every 2 days. The vast majority of time forfeits would not occur with this setting. 1 move every 2 days is most likely doable, and, making 2 moves in one day brings the time bank to 72 hours.
3) When life happens, use a time joker. We get 4 a year.

As for the second part of your statement - maybe I misinterpreted you. Saying, "Do you have a life outside BGA" can come across as rude. Telling people who seem fervent about a hobby, "Dude, you have no life" can come across as rude.

Since you asked, and I'm just some rando on the internet, I'll answer. Do I have a life outside BGA? Yes. Do I have much of a life outside of my home? Unfortunately, for the time being, no, because of personal/family issues that I have no control over, and which I wouldn't wish on anybody. Because of this, I also get very little consistent or regular sleep. It's been rough. I love to play sports and lift weights. Somewhat recently, I was at the gym daily doing one or the other or both. I love to go to EDM shows. There are various other hobbies outside the home that I enjoy. This past year has been brutal and very emotionally painful.

So, I am near my computer a lot, and if not my computer, my call phone and/or iPad, and can keep up with any time window. When I play Arena games, I have literally ALL options selected as "willing to play" (up to "8 moves per day). At any moment, a fast turn based game could start that requires 8 moves in any 12-hour window.

So, from my vantage point, being that there are avenues by which to avoid time forfeits, I don't have much sympathy for people who periodically make posts complaining about the penalties for doing so. I do have some sympathy for their opponents - BUT, an opponent gets the choice: Complete the game naturally, if that's most important, or, forfeit the other player if timely completion/ending/forfeiting of the game is more important.

I did at one or more occasion message an opponent and point out the time issues and ask, "could we possibly arrange a time where we will make a bunch of moves in a short time period when we are both online?"

Some have said yes and done so. Others did not reply, so I neutralized the game (but did not forfeit them).

In a world with a lot of problems we cannot solve, the issues discussed in this thread seem to me to have much easier solutions or near-solutions.
