However, we cannot force players to play in a given manner, as long as they follow the rules.
This part isn’t true and should be fixed. You can report players who intentionally break games even if they are following the rules.

Similar to trolling but a term mainly used in video games - doing actions mainly to impair someone else's enjoyment of the game or otherwise annoy or troll people.
Odd. I am on the internet a lot and play video games and yet have not heard of this. (Though my video games and internet use do not coincide. Old-school console player here).

Wiktionary wrote:grief (v.), “(online gaming) To deliberately harass and annoy or cause grief to other players of a game in order to interfere with their enjoyment of it; especially, to do this as one’s primary activity in the game, and especially by exploiting game mechanics without using cheats to do so, often through acts of destruction or vandalism.“
Now, they mentioned,

Which honestly could be anything. Assuming they somehow read the mind of their opponent and know that the opponent is “purposefully losing”, then that sounds like it could be “tak[ing] an unnecessary and unreasonable amount of time at the end of game in an obvious losing position”, which would be a violation of the code of conduct.

(Or it could just be an inept player who nevertheless wants to play to the end rather than concede. I mean, really, that’s the only concrete complaint here—that the opponent is losing and hasn’t conceded? In light of a certain 20+ page thread on conceding, I just have to laugh at this.)

Going back to my original point—there are in fact legitimate ways of reporting “griefing”, despite the fact that none of the options uses that word. There should be an option for CoC violation, no? Shouting into the wind and posting it here are two pointless things one could do instead.
No, assuming we're taking the OP at their word, "purposefully losing" requires intentionally making bad plays. Would make me consider kingmaking but you can't concede in a 2+ player game on BGA, so that wouldn't make any sense. My first guess would have been some kind of trolling; doubtful we're seeing the brutal levels of <50% locks to keep a player indefinitely in the game unless they quit and take the hit themselves since we're talking about a losing position though. Couldn't tell you what sort, and even then, this is all assuming the OP's statement was reasonably accurate, which is not a given in cases like these.

I don't understand this thread at all.

Have we been given any clarification on what the actual issue is?

Not reportable. I never search for tickets anyway in ttr 🤷‍♂️. Op is guaranteed 3rd lol.

Things like this is why I say games should be allowed to carry on if someone quits. In this game op isn’t allowed to nullify the results because 1 player took all the destination tickets. A player playing abnormally can hurt the game results more than a player just up and leaving.

It's not cheating, but it is still griefing the game. All you can do is red thumb and move on with it.

As far as this example goes, that's basically what this player did based on the description provided, assuming it was a game with more than 2 players. They pretty much left the game and allowed it to continue with minimal interference.

If they wanted minimal interference they should have taken train cards. Taking that many tickets cards can impact a game
