It would be cool if you could play in "I don't know how to play this yet but want someone to play with so I can learn" mode. I love that we have access to so many cool games but I find myself only playing games that I already know how to play because I don't know how to play them well enough to play with a stranger.

That’s a nice idea! Don’t think there’s a chance of that coming to BGA though. If playing turn-based is ok for you, just join the group Talkative and Friendly Games on BGA (via the community tab). Sometimes people will ask you to join learning games. If you’re premium or are fine with playing non-premium games, you can post your own table there and add that you’re willing to learn the game on the go, either looking for someone who’s willing to teach or for someone who’s interested in learning together.

Hello,

The best solution to learn new games is turn-based mode because you have enough time to think. And obviously the first games are often chaotic but the objective should to be better game after game. Don't think it is a competition, there is the arena mode for that. Just have fun ;)

Then you could try to play games in "friendly mode".

Your concerns are valid. Some players will make rude comments and some will block newbies( although I think this is silly because you can setup your preferences to not play with newbies).
It can make it discouraging to try to learn new games. Especially if you're a slower learner.

My suggestion would be to join a group on BGA or on discord if you don't have any friends playing on BGA already. Then you can reach out and ask if anyone is willing to help you learn games with less issues about players getting upset and or blocking potentially.

Easier to learn games in friendly or turn based. Also some games have solo modes which can make it easier to practice a game. You can use the search feature to find games that have solo modes more easily./

Try something super simple to play like 7 Wonders Dice. It works well on mobile and it highlights your choices. It also has an easy undo.

Just do turn based so you have more time. I recommend 4 moves a day. Its still a fast game.

I hear you, the most annoying thing is that you get banned from chats. I tend to go over time A LOT, but not because I initially lag. Just got a pm..."Thanks for playing, but I had fast for reason"...why because you can't win if the player is using their brain for 15 seconds to find the best next move? There is a difference between players intentionally biding their time (or losing a connection) and players attempting to play the game with in the given time frame. I would say that the Karma getting into a game is pointless...I don't think it will generally affect you based on experience, but the fact you can't chat if below 50% is messed up. Furthermore, that you can lose 20% in 1 sitting, but then only earn at 2% each game is pretty ridiculous. All I can say is don't worry about it too much.

Only issue with this is that if you want to "Play Now" you need to be flexible with the games you play...otherwise it may take forever to find a game...let me know if I am wrong.
