Waza special assignment vs hypnosis

Does hypnosis allow you to get around/circumvent the prohibition of Waza special assignment ? I asked the question on Boardgamegeek and the guy there said 'no',but I thought that when you used hypnosis you were playing as the other player.

hypnosis doesn't allow you to play a card from his hand nor does it allow you to reduce the cost of your animal with an opponent zoo does it ?

No,I didn't think it did that.But I had thought it let you use their abilities and icons instead of your own.Apparently,the only advantage it gives you is using their action card ? And the business about whether you can use their upgraded build action if yours isn't is confusing as well.

Hypnosis let you use their card for your action. You still use your worker, take into account your zoos, and your sponsor as well. If their card is upgraded, well you are using an upgraded card. If yours is upgraded but theirs isn't, the action won't be upgraded.

I won't say it's simple, but that one is straight forward.

Thanks,and ok,but it seems to get confusing over whether you are allowed to cover the red build spaces if their build action is upgraded,but yours isn't.I would have thought you should be able to,but you are covering bits of your map.

You get to use their action card with whatever ability it provides as if the card was yours for that turn. If it's upgraded build, yes, you get to cover red spaces on your map, or build multiple things or aviary/reptile house. If it's upgraded assoc you can grab 3rd partner zoo, use multiple workers, and donate. If it's upgraded animals you can play multiple animals if the power is three or higher or play animals that require an upgrade. If it's upgraded sponsors you can play sponsors that require an upgrade, play sponsors from your range, play multiple sponsors, or break for double the money. If it's upgraded cards you get to draw from your range or snap at power three. If it's an MW action card you get whatever special effect it provides. But you're only appropriating the action card and its power, nothing else. You're still using your own resources (x tokens, workers, money) and you can't circumvent any conditions the card itself doesn't circumvent. If there's an x2 token on the card you don't get to use it up.
