What are these trophies I'm getting and where do I see what they are?

Being new, I keep getting trophies (I think that's what they are called) and I'm wondering where they are so I can see what they mean, what they were for. I can't find anywhere to see them so I'm wondering what's the point? Or maybe I'm just blind.

To see all of them, click on your avatar, then click the "View My Profile" link, then click the tab between "Recent Activity" and "XXX Games Played." It will have yellow letters and numbers on a black background representing the amount of site XP you have accumulated (the trophies/medals/whatever award site XP). Then click the small link on the right that says "XXX achievements." There you will see all your trophies sorted by game, and at the very top certain site trophies that are not associated with a game.

What is site XP good for? Bragging rights. Put it on your C.V.

Yeah, unfortunately it is hard to find. Meeplelowda made a good job explaining it.

I just now noticed you can get there more easily. When you click on your avatar on top right, you see the yellow writing on black background left to your avatar, it displays your XP. When you click on that XP number, you get to your achievements list.

I think it’s only weird because the site makes such a huge deal of them (taking over the entire screen) when you get one. Aside from that I think they are just the right amount of “hidden”, in that they are a silly little gamification (of a gaming site!) and not really a critical part of, well, much of anything. It’s nice to know how to get to them, but I don’t think they need to be more front-and-center.

I know that experience has no real value, but still, some achievements are very unbalanced. Why does it give so much for taking leagues (up to 1,200 for elite), but so little for getting elo threshold? In many games, you can take on an elite league in a couple of days, but it will take much longer for an expert, and I'm not talking about a master for whom they give only 500 experience. In addition, you can get the elite league every season, and once you get it (with the same rules), it will be easy to get second time.

IMO elo achievements should give 5-10 times more XP for expert and master and 3-5 times more for else, because it's a lot easier to get t o300 elo. And getting elite not first time should provide less xp.

To me that sounds like saying trophies in a sport are not critical. That seems contradictory. Of course, it all depends on how competitive someone is, but for those who are, looking at a player's list of trophies is how you assess how much they have "achieved" in a game (just like you would in any sport).

Now, I agree that they don't need to be showcased more, to me the way it's displayed currently is just right. The lists look nice visually, both on the game's page and on your profile, and I like the "taking over the entire screen" feature. Sure, it can seem a little silly when it shows up because you've played a few games, but when it displays after a tournament win, or after you've become world champion at a game, it's a great feeling.

Also, they take up so much of the screen and there's no way to know what they are for when you get them. This is why I wanted to see them, to see what they were for! There should just be a more noticeable link to get to them.

I've been noticing other things that are kind of hidden too. There's definitely some layouts that could be made much more user friendly by being more logical and visible.

Your latest achievements also appear on the notifications panel and at the bottom of the main page. And achievements for each game are listed on the game page.
