Dead game no one care?

Post by Bunder »

I do understand its a slim chance of getting any traction on this, but Ill yet give it a go.
This game is amazing, its hard to even get is all in short why this game is true gem.
But its a hidden gem. hidden behind only premium, while has only 2 scenarios, zero expansions, zero custom options like reducing/adjusting deck, that would allow to tweak obviously tilted default balance.
Devs hello? ..
I know, is not that exiting to spend your time on a product that hardly been appreciated by that tiny community.
Sorry for the harsh words, but this is half baked cookie, and it will stay in sad state unless some more love.
But this game can shine, it can have competitive and friendly mindgame enjoyers getting hyped.
This game is screaming for expansions and scenarios. Not even talking that those basic situation with hunter out of clues getting existing ones moved by witch when hunter has building allies with ""MAY move"" in description...
I do believe this game deserve its place not in somewhere bottom of meh, but rather should be loved by many.
All I can wish is bga and deves would review and do spend some efforts, rather leaving it as such.
Cheers!

It is one of the better two player games I have played here but it is really really hard to get a game without waiting 30+ minutes even as a premium player. I put in a suggestion that they take it off of premium for a while to help it find a following letting anyone be able to start a game. Would also be nice if they incorporated the deck building elements or at least offered alternate decks. In the current build the hunter's deck especially(imo) could use some tuning.

I also love this game and wish there was more support / players for this game. It is hard to find people to play both on BGA and locally.

I think the balance of the base game is okay, but there is a slight skew towards the witch. In particular in async. There are also some cards where the rules have been intentionally changed in the name of game flow (e.g. The witch moves the hunter's clue token for Operative and Wishing Well(?) ability when it is the witch's turn).

Hopefully this game catches fire because it is a really great game.

The best duel game on BGA, but unfortunately it's not popular. It's frustrating. I have to play only with top players who bully me. I want to bully weak players too. Just kidding.

I just created a tournament to try and keep the game alive a bit.
I invite you all to the first edition of The Roanoke Championship: The Inaugural Roanoke Cup

I think this game would greatly benefit in real-time games would be available for not only premium users. I have no idea if those tweaks are technically easy to implement and if there would be anyone to consider making this call.

The decision of premium is left entirely to the publisher. It's not a question of BGA choosing to turn off premium to gain traction. The publisher agreed to allow their game on the BGA platform in exchange for getting a small royalty when people play it, which is completely reasonable.

Meanwhile, game developers are volunteers. The disappointing side of that is there's never a guarantee they'll volunteer time for extra improvements people want to see. The other side of that coin is that games are available for anyone to volunteer to develop. It's a situation of "be the change you want to see in the world."

Considering amount of games happening, I imagine publisher not making a fortune of it at all. And as per my understanding its a small publisher, for relatively small games. They might get reasonable to have more people are into their games in a first place, especially if that split for async and real time prem is possible (I doubt fairly)
Im not undervaluing developers by all means. Its just feels that most of work is already there and its overall a great job, that just need a bit (yes, hypocorism) of extra in terms of scenarios / expansions.
And rules... That other than supposed side moving clues/ secrets in favour of async speed of the game is... It really not that experience you want to have - battling against rule misinterpretations.

Yes, I agree with that. I've also experienced more bugs with this game than most, which is disappointing, especially for a game I like so much.

Hypocorism refers to the linguistic practice of using pet names, diminutives, or affectionate nicknames to convey intimacy, warmth, or endearment. I'm... not sure what that has to do with volunteering to help out.
