Issues with the rules links

Post by SquireKeladry »

Is this the best way to make someone who can fix this problem aware of these issues? The English rules linked on the game page are confusing and one of the links is actually for a different game.

The first rules link (called "Roll through the Ages: Bronze Age") goes to the BGG files page for the game. It's hard to find the rules on this page because they're not one of the top files and are a long way down the list. It would be better to link directly to this file page - https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/2912 ... es-matt-le

The second rules link (Rules | Direct pdf link) is for the wrong game. The name of the that pdf does say "Roll Through The Ages Bronze Age", however if you actually open up the pdf it contains the rules for Roll for the Ages: The Iron Age instead. RttA: The Iron Age is a more complex reimplemenation of the game and has various rules that aren't present in RttA: The Bronze Age.

I only speak English so I haven't checked any of the links for rules in other languages, but maybe it'd also be a good idea to double check those links too after fixing these ones, just in case there's been a mix up with them too (what with the names of these two games being so similar).

You can add that link yourself by clicking on "Add" just behind the headline „Game rules“

You can report this, using the red arrow downwards behind that link.

I've tried to report the incorrect rules twice - several weeks ago, and again last week. It says it will be reviewed by a mod but nothing has happened and the incorrect rules are still linked on the game page at the time of writing this reply.

I thought that possibly the first time the mods missed the different but similar names and didn't understand why I was reporting the pdf for not being relevant to this game. So when I reported it for a second time, I selected "other" and wrote a clear explanation in the space for comments. But the incorrect pdf with the rules for RttA: The Iron Age still hasn't been removed, so is anyone even checking these reports? How long does it normally take to get rules fixed?

I also tried to submit a link that goes directly to the specific file page for the rules on BGG instead to the general file page, and got the following error message: "This link has already been submitted but has been removed by the moderators. If this is a mistake, please contact us". BGA would normally link to the correct file page for a game, rather than just linking to the BGG files in general so I don't understand why this game is being treated differently.

Could you have a go? Maybe they will actually do something about the incorrect rules, if more people report it. Or is there another way to contact them about these issues?

Sorry, I have no idea.

This sounds quite strange to me.

Another way to report a bug is via the bug system https://boardgamearena.com/bugs?game=2529 (reporting a bug for the game), but I'm not very confident that this approach will lead to a correction. But you could try... Good luck!
