Kicking Other Player Out of Game

So I have had this happen to me several times now. I will be playing along and freezing the pile and I will grab the pile after a long round and then start to have to meld it. It's obvious that I'm going to win with a high score once grabbing this pile. You can see the other player melding and putting things out. I get the whole timeline thing for those who sit and leave the game without actually officially leaving the game. But I don't get it while I'm melding an incredible grab and as soon as my timer turns red, six seconds, at the most and the other player kicks me out! I am then labeled as losing the game and penalized for running out of time. Somehow this doesn't seem right! The other player did not win but rather was a sore loser by kicking me out. It hurts my "reputation!"

When you see your timer goes negative, you could just discard. Even if the opponent expels you, you get a warning that the action was triggered and you have 20 seconds to finish your move before actually being expelled. Just discard. It is what it is. There are players that wait and players that don't. They might be sore losers or not, thing is it's their right to expel you once your timer goes negative.

Since you say this happened in multiple occasions, it's clear you play quite slowly. So one option would be to try to speed up your game. Also, you could open tables with a slow speed setup, which would allow more time to make your actions.

And the other player won! Not nice, but when you start a game with a certain setup, you commit to follow it. Not all players have the patience to wait for a very slow player that is not managing the time they got allocated. Of course, since you say these cases came when you were about to win or to build a huge advantage, you could discuss lack of fair-play, but again, it is what it is and you need to get better at managing your time or play with a different setup.

And if your "winning move" requires taking more time than allowed for a turn, perhaps it's not such a good move?
