Your service glitches too much to penalize player reputation for timers

Post by RamblinAspie »

This is pretty simple. It's unreasonable to penalize a player's reputation for time running out, when the reason is usually the site notifications malfunctioning.

Exactly! I just had this and couldn't log in my phone or different browsers. Clearly a system glitch and I just got penalized. This is absolutely ridiculous. Exactly what are we paying for if you guys cannot even keep this website functioning properly? At what point will the owners of this game site take responsibility for their site's problems and stop penalizing us. At some point, I have to assume that this is blatant disregard for players' enjoyment. The term "karma" is used here. How are we supposed to be enjoying good karma when we are penalized for things that aren't our fault? Can we get an explanation here?

I had have to curtail my real time playing. Due to issues with the site losing contact with the server about once every 5 minutes. Only for a few seconds. But enough to make playing difficult having to refresh every few minutes of playing. Please fix your servers

Thank you. I think the owners / mods of this site need to hear more from us players so they realize how disgusted we are. It is hard to justify paying for a service that penalizes us for their site's issues. This has been repeated ad nauseum by many many people and it continues to be ignored. Can we get a response please that addresses this?

My service is flawless

Quick note: this is a player discussion forum, not a venue to contact BGA. It's not "your" service or "my" service, it's BGA's.

After a fulfilling discussion here, consider contacting BGA directly. Posting here is a great way to correspond with other players, but won't fix anything.

It is the only way to vent these concerns. They don't even make it easy to contact them, and when I have, they try to blame the player. Not to mention that this is a player discussion - we are discussing the unsatisfactory of the service and the resulting impacts on us, the PLAYERS.

And then worse, you have to acknowledge the OOPS you didn't finish the game page. What it should say is OOPS! Our service is in a condition such that players cannot always finish their games. Please excuse us while we fix this.

I agree it's a great place to vent concerns. It feels a little like you're arguing, but I think we're actually saying the same thing.

I just wanted to remind people that it's not "your" service when you're talking to other players. We're all in the same boat here.

Got it. It is my service in that I am paying for it. It is the service I am receiving. But you are right also - it is the service that all of us are receiving - whether paying for it or not. The point of my discussion is two-fold. First, to give us players a chance to discuss our concerns. Second, to hope that the administrators of this site care enough to read this and listen to our concerns. If nothing else, it gives voice to us players who otherwise do not have one.

I've been playing a decent number of real-time games without issues.

I am really happy to hear that. And 98% of the time, so do I and likely so do most people. And I understand that downtime happens and things happen. But that same understanding should extend on the other side to us players when things that are the site's fault affect us. Instead of penalizing us, the admins should be apologizing, cancelling the penalties, or devise a system to forgive penalties if glitches happen.

The current system appears to be designed such that if there is a systemwide outage, then penalties are erased. Great. But there should be a way of detecting regional outages or problems that only affect some players. There has been a lot of discussion of this so it is obvious that it is happening. If such detection is not available, then the penalty system should be modified to take this into consideration.
