Really unhappy with tournament changes

No invitation option
—If unwanted mass invites are a problem give everyone an option to block invitations, like a setting in their profile. List the option in the invite message. Which would mean if you do not want invites you can make it stop after the first one.

Absolutely not mobile friendly
—A lot of scrolling and SIDEWAYS scrolling just to see results (see below)
—What is wrong with just a table?
—There is a lot of empty space and “fluff” in between information that you are looking for

Tournament search does not work
—Could not find a tournament that I knew existed even when selecting “ALL” at all options, except game name

Maybe you'll find this useful going forward, just my own perspective. The gleeful enshittification and ruining of swiss and round robin tournaments is what made me withdraw from all of my upcoming tournaments and cancel my own annual tournament series. But the insulting press release is what made me cancel automatic renewal of my subscription and has left me somewhat uninterested in continued use of your product.

As per the direction in the announcement "Keep it Constructive!"

Either revert back to the previous version or add in the missing features and functionality, particularly tournament invites.

The last time I had witnessed a "modernization" that none of the players wanted on a gaming site, the site went out of business a couple of months later.

I've just been on holiday, so didn't post here - but I do have to say that after reading the announcement, I signed up for a few tournaments - it was slick & easy. Sure there may be things to improve, but I like the new interface.

Tryjng to be nice. But. Unless I am wrong. Your horrible update just ruined or in the process on ruining thousands of tourneys. And that is no exaggeration. Swiss tourneys have been going for months. Some even over a year. And you just ruined them in one fell swoop. Wow. Way to disenfranchise 1000's of customers. Way to ruin the entire tournament experience for 1000s. Imagine all these players that have been playing in swiss for months seeing all their hard work go down the tubes...and seem to have no recourse..No joke . Where are the proper scoreboards. Not alphabetical order. Which means zero. Where are Invites. Tiebreakers. Things that are important. Instead. We got this. And told. This is how it will be. Not going back. Yikes. I hope you change your mind. Hate to see such an unbelievable site that I have said to others. Is the best app on the entire internet. Can't say that anymore

When you changed the logo, I didn't care much, even though I thought it was ugly and unprofessionally designed.

When you changed the menu bar at the top of the page, I was mildly annoyed by the extra clicks needed to get to your current active tables by having to click the avatar to open a menu, rather than just clicking on the table icon in the menu bar.

When you changed ELO https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33785
I was very annoyed, especially by the hubristic official responses that a quick kluge adjustment to ELO calculations would work better to address imbalances than a system carefully calibrated by a mathematician to balance all these concerns and more. Also, the gentle chastising that "we shouldn't care so much about ELO" and that this is a friendly site. I nearly quit them because of the complete lack of perspective about what purpose ELO serves and how important it is to have it be accurate. But ultimately I decided a broken ELO doesn't break the site, so I stayed (the ELO leakage continues though.

But now you have actually seriously broken a major component of the site for me. I cannot get any of the main information I need on the tournament page.
In swiss tournaments, your changes originally showed no rankings. Then you put in a table, but it's useless. I see there are players above and below me, but I no longer see if they have finished the current round or are still playing. So I can't tell if someone could still jump ahead of me this round or not.
You also cannot see the tiebreakers in the rankings.
In single elimination tournaments, the tournament state is a useless up/down and side/side scroll that gives you no perspective. Seriously, what information does an image like this convey?

https://imgur.com/a/dNShXdT

You can't see where that match came from without clicking clicking clicking. You can't tell what round it is. Nothing. To have an "overview" in a literal sense, you have to have a view OVER the object. And this is too zoomed in to be useful.

The "Announcement" box does not indicate in any way that there are multiple messages. So players will miss any new discussion that is happening, for example when the organizer posts the next tournament to join.

This is not more friendly for desktop and it's not friendly to mobile either.

The *only* positive change I see is that now you can easily find a tournament organizer's other tournaments.

The fact that you beta tested this new tournament page with several users and they raised precisely these issues and they were ignored before release, that's just incredible. Do you even care about hearing the user experience?

I'm done supporting this site. Done submitting bug reports which never get looked at and then get closed automatically despite dozens of thumbs. I've been here for over 5 years, but last two years have been a steady decline, so enough.

I'm not a fan of the new tournament pages which actually seem to require more clicks to find the relevant information. The newly modified tournament pages actually tell me nothing as far as I can tell. I'm not sure what you were trying to achieve with the redo. I don't like it on my cell nor my laptop. It is slower, worse, and not mobile friendly like you claim.

Ok, so I just had a tied game in a single elimination tournament: https://boardgamearena.com/10/potionexp ... =810657894

In the past, what would always happen in such a case was that BGA would choose to advance the player with the older account. This is well documented in the forums, but never officially confirmed by BGA.

But in this case, I was the one who advanced in the tournament, despite having the younger account by about half a year.

Is this another secret change to the tournaments? Can we actually get an official statement from BGA now about what happens with a tie in an elimination tournament? It's only been missing from the tournament FAQs for a decade... https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9695
