(and yes - some blocking is fine, but when people just block every exit point right away with zero indicataion of where the oponent is going, it's not really playing the game. it's gaming the points.)
Yes, this I agree with, blocking every exit with the sole purpose of blocking, not working to complete a route, drives me insane. I have red thumbed down so many people I am afraid there will be no one left to play with someday LOL
If all my tickets are 5-pointers, its not worth my time to complete them, especially if they are nowhere near eachother. A better strategy is to give my opponent more negative route points than myself, while trying to snag a few 6x tracks.

the game is not about completing routes. its about having more points than your opponent.

The game designer agrees that blocking is a valid strategy.

How can you block without a purpose? That's the whole point of blocking in a game.

If you hate blocking then secure it first/ don't pick routes that are so predictable.

The game allows for it for a reason.

BLOCKING stops other players from scoring points. The goal is to score more points than your opponent. Why are you upset that your opponent is doing something to stop you from winning?

Maybe you should play cooperative games instead of something competitive?

I totally agree. The goal of the game is to get the most points, but the goal of me playing the game is for me to have fun. Playing with one of those players is no fun at all, so while they aren't actually cheating, they are not really playing in the spirit of the game either. I will block someone if the opportunity arises and I can also use that route, or if I have multiple ways to get somewhere I will choose the one most likely to block the other player, but for the most part I am still just trying to make my own routes. Unfortunately there is no way to really choose or enforce what "type" of player you want to play with other that the red thumb. I have been on this platform for over a year and play this game a lot, and haven't really encountered one of those players in many months. I don't think there are many people that play that way so I think I've already red thumbed pretty much all of them.

So... opposing players should just allow their opponent to get more points for... their enjoyment?

That's just really dumb.

So... Just let you win because that's more fun for you?

For a game where each segment can only be claimed by one player, it seems to me the "spirit of the game" is clearly blocking. What is the spirit of tic-tac-toe?

I've played games where I was convinced someone was going out of their way to block me. and not even going for any routes. Guess what? By the end of the game, they had connected everything into a concrete route, AND they won the game with the longest route and got all their tickets completed. We just had a lot of spaces that competed with each other.

You can't say that someone is intentionaly blocking you until the game is over. And even then... it's all fair.

If you can't enjoy the game because of some of the rules, then this may not be the game for you.
