I strongly suggest to make real bug reports in the bug report section. It's safer to be recognized by devs and definitely easier for them to handle. This looks like a clear unintended bug.

Default minimum number of players is bad. https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=207947
Invite links not working. https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=207945
(In the meantime, you can create a clickable invite link by putting "https://" in front of what you copy. And of course for public tournaments, you don't need an invite link, you can just copy the tournament URL.)
Upvoted and thanks for this, this workaround does work :).

Thanks for making those bug reports. Is it me. Or does it seems we are finding more bugs faster than they are fixing them. I hate to ask how many tourneys lately have never started due to minimum players needed equal to max players. So many players, including new ones to the tourney scene are left wondering why the tourney did not start. Or where did the tourney go that I signed up for. Will confuse many. And probably lose some to the tourney scene. These bugs need immediate attention. Help us bga. Help us with much more communication and feedback. We are all being left in the dark. Stumbling into more bugs.

I put up a suggestion to significantly increase the maximum player count for tournaments:

Why? My settings would mean 2 groups of 54, 9 tables of 6 in each,
I think you have unintentionally set your "number of players for each encounter" to 5. ?!? You write that you want tables of 6, but the settings in your screenshot aim for tables of 5. Also in your bug report, you write "min player count is 5 (and max 6)" but this is not what is shown in your screenshot (there it is min 4 and max 5).

Maybe that solves your problem already..!

With the settings you chose, the system would aim for a final table of 5 players in each group but then it wouldn't know who is the 6th player to move to the next stage. So I guess the error message does make some sense.

This seems clearly not a problem introduced by the recent update but I think it has always been like this. And you probably indeed just made a mistake in your settings. I retract from my earlier statement that "This looks like a clear unintended bug." Nope, I was probably wrong on this. This one is not on BGA for a change.

It's just a mistake in screenshot timing (because I'd been playing around with settings to see the problem), the actual bug does exist if you put maximum 6 players, min 5 players, you can try it yourself and you will see.

The tournament (which I've run before) is just 108 players, 2 rounds of top 2 qualify, 3rd round top 3 qualify, down to 6 players. The 5 min is just protection against a withdrawal, it's not meant to be used.

Another example of what doesn't work and should, so I was playing today with 405 players with 27 groups set to 6 max, 5 min. This should set 27 groups of 15 players, 3 tables of 5, with top 2 qualify, so 6 to qualify from each group into 162 players, from where it will be 6 player tables with top 2 to qualify, there's no reason why it wouldn't allow this, but it gives the same bug.

So this: https://ibb.co/wNhdv8xX gives the same error.

And to be clear if you remove the 5 min from these it removes the bug, so the system doesn't like the min player lower count being lower than the number of players to qualify from each group for some reason in multiplayer elimination (yet it's fine if you use Swiss instead), but there's no reason for it do so. I know this because if you use my Netherlands settings and set the max player count to 6, min player count to 6, it would let me create the tournament then, just I don't know want to do that for the reasons I say, that if someone withdraws the tournament is totally borked, and I would rather have some leeway against my tournament being destroyed.

On average, 173 people were registering for these tournaments before this Not Better, Not Faster, Not Friendly release was implemented.

Today, the first of my tournaments partially impacted by the no more invites feature started with only 108 participants, a 37% reduction.
After another 5 days of the Not Better, Not Faster, Not Friendly release, my next tournament started with only 93 participants; a 46% reduction.

So very frustrating...

Ok, got it. This can be considered a bug but it might also be a missing functionality. When you write "The tournament (which I've run before)", you should definitely link to the tournament that has worked before in your bug report.

This can be easily solved by setting the "Number of player per group to qualify" to 2. I think that gives you the round scheme you intend to have.
I also saw that you solved your other tournament setting problem by changing the setting a little but providing your intended tournament round scheme. https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=533524

It might be that most of these "multi-multi-elimination" edge cases can be solved with some thinking but of course that's annoying if it worked simpler before.
