New UI suggestions

Post by dmi3k »

Thank you for bringing the game back. In the new interface you wanted to bring the game closer to "around the table" experience, I understand. However, there are a few things which are somewhat counterproductive (especially coming from 1000+ games in the old interface).

- Confirmation buttons. I think everyone who played the new interface would agree that the confirmation steps are unnecessary. It needs to be critically reviewed and simplified.
- "Targeting" cards. All selection of "targeting cards" (1, 3, 5), i.e. selection of the targeted player and the card to guess (for 1), should be done PRIOR to putting the card in play.
- "Information" card. All cards giving you information, such as (2) should not have a confirmation button, but should log the info into the log. Display for fixed 3 seconds or so, log the event into the game log, and move on.

I hope you guys are bringing the PREMIUM set back for 5+ players or the respective expanded version from LoveLetter 2nd Edition (or 10th Anniversary). Losing PREMIUM would be such a shame.

I politely but strongly disagree, for what it's worth. Especially on mobile, but even on desktop, I always prefer to have a separate confirm step as an accessibility option. Of course, players could turn it off if they do not need it. Similarly, especially for those of us who read slower or have worse eyesight, a timer that limited how long information is visible would be both stressful and annoying to the play experience, unless it is optional. I would rather be able to close a card after reviewing it, than have it flash for a second and then have to read the log anyway.

i have try to tell her to add the premium version, but he not going to add it, and i think the possibility to view all not card in game is bad and not possibility to miss a move with the guard too

exemple : if u are not view the player try to kill with a guard a princess, u can't try this move if the princess are not in the game... but i think he have kill the game with that

I agree that flashing of the card is probably not good enough. But slowing down the game is even worse. I would love to hear other creative options (keeping the card uncovered until the next turn?)

This reveals another problem worded (if I understand correctly) by the user above: the game tries *too hard* to help the users remember the hidden information. The guard guessing should NOT be assisted by eliminating the already revealed cards, otherwise it is impossible to avoid guessing the correct card the user holds, which is sometimes required to win.

Yes, the premium version with 5 (or 6) players was the way to go, best version in my opinion. You had to try to not let another player win with a constable for example. The new version is kind of fun I guess, but the premium version is a must.

I don't mind the confirmation button, but I understand it could slow down the game. Also I don't like the cards played line on the bottom.

I also prefer the premium version, but it's probably a publisher decision.

The premium version was from the old publisher, and the new publisher took a different route to expand the original base game.
Publishers want their games to advertise what's on the market, what people are able to buy. It's no use for them to advertise a game they can't sell.

The confirmation button is such a waste. If you click on a card, still thinking, it will "confirm" you want to play it, even if you don't. I did it unpurposefully. It could be good, but not if it automatically "confirms" your move.

I couldn't find where to suggest changes, but one change I really want them to add is to know which card in hand is from the previous round vs a new card. For example, in a real table setting, if I see that someone has kept the same card over multiple rounds I can keep using the guard and have some guesses cut out since I've already guessed them. In this game, it's impossible to know if the card in their hand has been there from round 1, or just recently drawn
