If you have questions you can ask in the Tournaments forum (to the extent the questions aren't answered in the Tournaments FAQ thread). There is a community of users there dedicated to promoting tournaments and helping other users navigate the admittedly poorly documented tournament scene.AshleyShea wrote: ↑06 March 2026, 00:19 When I saw this message I thought, Oh great! Then you thought wrong. If you want to learn more about specific types of tournaments, read here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category: ... nt_systemsAshleyShea wrote: ↑06 March 2026, 00:19 When I saw this message I thought, Oh great! interesting tournament pages!
I have two questions, for example in https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=528484
total 16 groups, 2 winner in a 4-members groups, and next round is 1vs1 knockout stage
1.why many people have no ELO in the tournament pages?
2.many people are interested in the oppponent in the next round, such as 1st in A vs 2nd in B and 2nd in A vs 1st in B, or mix up the opponents such as 1st in A vs 2nd in X, 2nd in A vs 1st in Y.

I suppose, it is not that. Now after first play in the tournament, all the players have their real ELO written, that can be very bigger than 0Meeplelowda wrote: ↑06 March 2026, 20:30Having 0 Elo just means you have not completed a non-friendly game on BGA. But you could have played a lot outside of BGA. A tournament host can invite someone below 100 Elo if they wish.

Good point. At minimum it should be 1 after the first play.menettm wrote: ↑06 March 2026, 21:03I suppose, it is not that. But I see the issue. If you try to open the profile of the two players with 0 Elo, you get this message: "This player does not exist (account closed by player or for inactivity)"

You can look this tournament https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=521005
At the end of the list of players there are always some players with 0 for ELO.
Looking their profile, you will see their real ELO.
It was also my case before my first game play at end in the tournament and I play a lot to TTR Maps these last days.

I don’t understand you reply, I was about 200 for the ELO and when I do my inscription to this tournament, it shows also 0 for me.

I was responding to a post about a specific tournament above: https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=528484
Regardless of what happened to you in another tournament, or what happened to other people in some other tournament, in the specific tournament I was responding about the players with 0 Elo, VivoX300 and 1149813557, no longer have active accounts:
VivoX300: https://boardgamearena.com/player?id=97692406
1149813557: https://boardgamearena.com/player?id=97033655
You can go to that tournament and try clicking on the link to their profile that's in the Overview or Registered Participants view.
Hopefully you understand my reply now.
