#28 Solo Challenge [March 2026]

Post by creakinglemon »

FINAL SCORES:
enigmazero (201) vs Automa (117)
BocageFever (186) vs Automa (108)
montybojangles (176) vs Automa (111)
OriProf (169) vs. Automa (102)
rodweb (165) vs. Automächtig (116)
Branleur (164) vs. Automa (111)
Verce (162) vs. Automa (108)
creakinglemon (154) vs Automa (108)
philanthrop (147) vs. Automa (112)
**thiagorova (153) vs Automa (114) **incorrect map used
**FDHenneberg (81) - Automa (117) **incorrect map used

I have decided to re-boot the Gaia Project solo challenge, picking up where montybojangles left off previously.
The idea with the solo challenge is for all participants to play with the same faction against the same automa with the same board setup, and to compare scores and strategies.

This month's challenge:
Play the Terrans against the automa of the month, the Xenos.
Use game seed 17723664. Have fun and see how high you can score.

Rules:
All game scores submitted must be played with seed 17723664, with "random map" setup, and as the Terrans faction against the Xenos automa.
You can play as many times as you want to try and get a higher score and to try different strategies.
This is for fun - there is no prize.

After your game please come back to this thread and post your score, the automa you played against, a link to your game, and any comments about strategy.
For example:
creakinglemon (120) vs. Automa (114)
https://boardgamearena.com/9/gaiaprojec ... =813977925
Planned on focusing on economy and science, but made some miscalculations early on and had to scramble to get through. Failed to go up navigation soon enough and had no source of QIC so wasn't able to get my gaiaformer out every round. Was also unable to take advantage of booster tile special actions due to lack of planning. The automa took 2 ore power action on first move of round which I was planning on doing, I should have had a back-up plan here. Was fighting for green planets with the automa throughout the game, with the automa getting 1 more than me in the end. Maxed out on terraforming track (not planned, late in game) and economy track. Next time I would definitely focus on navigation early on.

How to start a game with the custom seed:
Start a solo game of Gaia Project using "Random Map" game setup (NOT fixed or variable):
Image
Click "Start now solo"
Click "Go to Game"

Choose Xenos on the Automa selection page. (Do not click "Automa of the month" or "Automa of the week")
Image
Click "Confirm"

On the "Select Automa difficulty level" page click "set custom seed":
Image

In the box that pops up enter the number 17723664:
Image
Click "Confirm"
This step ensures we are all playing with the same board setup and same automa deck

Choose automa difficulty. If you are a beginner or unsure what difficulty to choose, use "Automa":
Image
If you want more of a challenge choose "Automachtig" (more challenging), "Ultoma" (even more chalenging), or "Alptrauma" (most challenging)

Chose the faction "Terrans":
Image
Click confirm

Check that you are playing with the correct seed (in the top right of the screen, under the automa's score):

You are ready to play.
After your game come back to this thread and post your score.

Thanks, I really appreciate that. I’m awful at this game, but as you say, being the best is not what this is mainly about, so:

FDHenneberg (81) - Automa (117)

Strategy: lol. Focused on the Gaiaforming track and tried to get an early Navigation 2, so when I was ready to climb on other tracks, it was too late for improving my income, and I ended up only going up on these two. Ignored round goals as usual, which was costly as always.

Will definitely try again and try to fail better!

I'm very pleased the solo challenge is running again! Thank you creakinglemon.

montybojangles (176) vs Automa (111) - https://boardgamearena.com/8/gaiaprojec ... =814777950 - Decided to build PI for income as Xenos might not give much charge. Aimed for points for gaia advanced tech at top of nav, and top gaia. Didn't take any recurring income tiles and made error in taking tokens for second fed.

Hi FDHennrberg, thanks for taking part. I noticed that you played with the "fixed" map setup - this will generate a different map layout than playing with the "random" map. Next time choose random map.
I also find the gaiaforming track difficult to use as getting a second gaiaformer means less power is used for each one, so uless you can put both out every round you are actually getting less power to spend each round.

Hello,

nice Idea with the solo Challenge ;))

First Game has the following Points:
philanthrop (147) vs. Automa (112)
https://boardgamearena.com/gamereview?table=816935150

I'm a very intuitive Player, so I had no "master strategy" and Just try to get much points from the round Bonusses. Played a Mine next to xenos to build the early Stronghold in second round but miscalculated and get it in round 3...maybe thats the reason for not getting a Higher score like montybojangles.
Rest of the Game had a good flow, Always get enough Ressourcen an build at least three aliances. But because of the early mistake xenos gets one more Green Planet and I missed that Points.

Nice idea to revive the solo challenge, thank you !

Bit rusty but I think it could have been worse :)

Strategy : occupy some gaia planets early on to minimize Xenos's power, early PI and then try to score as much as possible, with 3 alliances and advanced tech. There is probably a better run without navigation.

Bonjour, merci pour le solo challenge,

je viens de faire une partie.

BocageFever (161) vs Automa (111)

J'ai privilégié la navigation au niveau 2 et la gaiaformation pour aller chercher la tuile tech avancée de scoring d'alliance.

Merci encore

First time I actually did well with terrans haha. Pushing for Gaia projects with the PI worked quite well.

I did struggle a lot with money, though, so I’m wondering if keeping if I should have pushed for one less tech, could’ve turned out better
