Streetcar: New Variant

Post by BuddaBruda »

I have been playing a bit of Streetcar with my friends recently.
I love the game and think it's a great implementation. However, one thing that bugs me a little, is that the game is over immediately as soon as someone completes their Inaugural Run. I think it would be more interesting to let the remaining player continue playing, to see who finsishes 2nd, 3rd etc.
Would this be easy to implement?

Maybe?

The bigger question is whether it will happen. From this post, probably not, for two reasons:

1. This is the SITE suggestion forum. You should post the discussion in the Streetcar forum.
2. BGA largely follows official rules, not houserules or unofficial variants.

Hope that helps

I would normally suggest raising a suggestion in the Bugs and Suggestions forum for the game. In my experience, those forums are more active and more likely to be seen by the devs for the game (if there are any active). There's also a mechanism for other players to vote for suggestions (and bugs) which might give them more visibility. In my experience, the earlier you are in the alpha/beta/full release cycle, the more likely you are to get a positive response.

However, this case is a little weird. Someone made this suggestion over a year ago (https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=164395). In a seeming misunderstanding, the developer then implemented . . . something different, and marked the suggestions as "Implemented". Nothing seems to have happened since then.

So maybe raise it as a new suggestion?

FWIW, I completely agree with you on wanting everybody to able to finish, instead of stopping suddenly when the first person reaches the goal. Playing in real life, my groups almost always play things out. Of course, in real life it's also easier to judge whether people really want to keep playing.
