Spiritless Spring League 2026 - B Side on the rise

Post by dschingis27 »

Here we go again, the Harmonies Spring League is coming! It includes 3 tournaments of Harmonies - no spirits, 2p. In the end, all results are aggregated and we crown the Harmonies Spring League Champion. Only Good+ players can join.

tl;dr: What changes compared to the Winter League?
- Scores are doubled - a formal change for consistency with BGA scoring, you get twice the points in groups and KO games.
- The second tournament, Cup B, is on B Side!
- In general, outside of Spring League, I increase the number of B Side tournaments and reduce A Side tournaments. (see next post)

Continued: The top 3 in each group of the Spring League Cups are invited to the monthly Round Robin Rumble. (see next post)

Tournament Links:
Spring League Cup A (A Side, 8th April) - https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=539445
Spring League Cup B (B Side, 6th May) - https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=539451
Spring League Cup C (A Side, 3rd June) - https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=553591
You can join one, two, or all three of them.

Tournament Rules:
Each tournament consists of eight round-robin groups with up to 11 players, the best 6 in each group go to the KO stage.
1st to 2nd place: Skip KO round 1 and start in KO round 2.
3rd to 6th place: Start in KO round 1.

Your Spring League Score:
- All final group stage scores (2 x wins + ties) are added up
- On top, each win (or bye) in a KO round scores one point
(e.g., a tournament champion scores 6 KO points)
- Maximum overall score is 78 = 3x20+3x6

Tiebreakers
Ties in the Spring League Score are resolved by:
(1) Overall number of KO wins, byes count as "KO win"
(2) Cumulated game score differences in group stages

The overall ranking is created and updated by me - I will create a Google sheet and share it. Have fun and good luck!

Here are descriptions of other tournaments I create regularly, all without spirit cards. I will create them soon for April.

Overview of my Harmonies No Spirits (2p) tournaments in Spring 2026: (A/B means A side / B side alternate every month)
CW 15 Wed Harmonies Spring League (A/B), Thu Quickie (A/B),
CW 16 Wed Brave and Bold Cup (B/A), Thu Quickie (B/A),
CW 17 Mon Round Robin Rumble (A/B), Thu Mega Quickie (A),
CW 18 Mon Champions League(B/A) / Challengers League(B/A),
______Thu Big B Side Quickie (B)

Round Robin Rumble (Burning Butterfly Cup): A prestigious round robin group with up to 15 players - the top 3 in each group of the monthly Spring League are invited to it, at first the top 2 in the groups get invites and 1 day later the 3rd places get invites. Participation is optional. This is a great opportunity to really test your skills and experience high-quality games, you fight 14 great players at once in at most 10 days.
-> I start to send invites 3-4 days before the tournament starts, all invited players can join as long as there are open spots.

Champions League (Harmonies Hustle) + Challengers League (Harmonies Rush): The Champions League is the toughest Harmonies challenge on BGA. Almost all players are experts or masters (Elo 500+) and battle each other in 4 round robin groups of 6-8 players, the best 2 in each group make it to an unforgiving final group of 8 players. Prepare to get crushed! The Challengers League is a copy of it but it is only open for players rated strong (Elo in 300 to 500). For the moment, both will alternate between A Side and B Side every month.

Brave and Bold (A Side / B Side): Large "casual" tournaments with medium time limit, they start with round robin groups of up to 4 or up to 5 players, the best 2 in each group make it to the KO stage. They alternate between A Side and B Side every month.

Mega Quickie (A Side) / Big B Side Quickie: Large monthly tournaments with short time limits, they start with round robin groups of 4 players. In the Mega Quickie, only group winners go to the KO stage, in the Big B Side Quickie, the best 2 in each group go to the KOs. The short time limits seem to be popular, you can be sure that the games don't drag on for too long.

Quickie: The original Quickie with short time limits. There are 4 groups of 4 players, the group winners go to a final group of 4.

I don't understand why they made that change. I suspect it may have something to do with how their programming works better with round numbers, rather than having to deal with half points. From a human perspective, it makes much more sense for the number of points to correspond to the number of games won.

Anyway, I'm excited to see how the Winter League is going to conclude. A lot of people can potentially win it this time.
