Hey Everyone,
A few changes are coming to TacTile with a goal of making the game more intuitive and helping players unlock the deeper strategy of TacTile.
Small Changes
1. Overdrive Action has been renamed 'CONVERT' to more closely align with its purpose
2. You can no longer overdrive basic actions - too few people were aware this was possible so it has been removed to improve balance
Larger Changes
1. The game is being split into two game modes OVERDRIVE & CLASSIC MODE.
2. OVERDRIVE uses the current rules of the game (randomized market & CONVERT action is enabled)
3. Classic Mode will have a fixed market (there will always be 2 Moves, 2 Gains, 2 Pushes available). You will also not be able to CONVERT in this mode.
The idea is that classic mode should be more straightforward and better for new players to grasp, however initial testing has showed that it still has significant depth of play. I am constantly reminded that TacTile seems to scale to the complexity of the players.
Classic Mode Tips
1. Buy a GAIN card first - TacTile is a game about balancing economic strength and positional strength, its balanced around the idea that there is no position where buying a gain first would make you lose (however you may have to play some defense if your opponent is really rushing)
2. Don't buy more push cards than move cards - a push is sacrificing tempo to potentially force your opponent to lose even more tempo - so you want to spend as little as possible on pushes to get the best bang for your buck
