ELO is different?

Post by puzzlereed »

Can I ask why? Is this a change for all cooperative games or just this one?

You hit my area. ELO in coop games is mess. BGA, developers, and players treat coop games as something worse, for kids, that doesn't deserve normal ELO system. Its one of things i try to fight against.

Here is my bug/petition for Gang game:

And here is one for all coops:

Unless more people will want that, and push for it. It will never change.

I definitely agree with putting an elo system in place for this game.

Al menos que sume 1 por cada partida, para que sepamos rápidamente cuanta experiencia ha tenido ese jugador.

Every player being apprenticeship level doesn't give any indication to what the experience is among players. So I agree that the classification going up by number of games played is a workable solution even if it doesn't necessarily translate to skill in the game.

Agree so much! It's no fun to be forced to play with unexperienced players and then people get kicked out or they have to see rude behaviour against them. Just because of Elo.

How many games has someone have to win before being "good". I saw people playing multiple 3 player games to rank up higher faster. But that's no fun, too.

They way it is now leads to so much rudeness and aggressiveness in so many cooperative games. The Gang is the worst, then The Crew. And I heard in Hanabi it's really bad, too. Especially in cooperative games you want to play with people who have the same skills as you. I don't understand why BGA forces people to play with unexperienced players with this Elo-System.

It takes a lot of the fun away, too.

Elo systems simply don't make sense for coop games.
What's the idea of a rating when it's not a competition?

All it does is cause frustration and bad behavior. Stops good players from being willing to teach newbies. And causes animosity in a game that's supposed to have you work together.

It's just not good for the atmosphere, and Adds little value. Even if you could come up with a good system.
