Option A: Pass your lowest odd card to the left and your lowest even card to the right.
OR
Option B: Pass your lowest even card to the left and your lowest odd card to the right.
-Either of these options will work if all four players agree on one of the two options.
Very important not on passing convention discussions!!!

Players can choose to flip turn order (clockwise/counterclockwise), which will change where players sit at the table.

This means left and right player can mean the opposite for your opponent then it does for you! Any conversation about passing should stick to next or previous player instead of left and right!

Otherwise you might agree on a passing convention with your partner, and still end up not following the same system.

I'd recommend editing your post and maybe adding this note for clarity.

Hello Tuut Tuut. Thank you for your comment.
There would certainly be no harm in changing the wording as you are suggesting. From your description it sounds as if there may be some confusion in the wording of "Right" an "left" based on the person's use of terms in describing directions and/or where or how you mat be psychically sitting. I can certainly make an edit and add your suggestion as an additional descriptor to clarify.

It's not about word usage or where you're sitting.

It's that in in the tichu here on boardgamearena, there is a button you can click that switches the player around.

So there is no such thing as a universal left or right. And if you and your partner both pass even cards to the right. You might still pass to the same player.

What’s not discussed often in Tichu strategy? Calling and successfully fulfilling difficult grand Tichus with Phoenix or Dragon + no Ace when you are behind with opposition giving you dogs in hand…

In this game, the bomb is immediately wished out of the gt hand and then play has to proceed from that point on.

It takes guts but you also need to play carefully and focus.

See the replay… it did not seem easy but you sometimes need to take risks in a short 500 point game if behind on score…

Guarding Against Double Victory

Post by Ezahl Vinclair »

Players don’t like to break up pairs, straights, or triples and play those cards as singles but sometimes it is actually good to do it…

Example:

It’s a 2 vs. 1 situation.

You and your teammate absolutely know that the dragon is on your team.

It is sometimes safer to play singles, even if it means you break up a pair, straight, or triple in your hand.

Playing a weak pair, weak straight, or other weak multi-card combination can potentially give control to the other side, making it easier for them to score double victory…

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

There are probably other times when it is good to break up a combo in your hand and play those cards as singles.

Great tips here, thanks!

Regarding this:

On BGA If you a not playing a live game, it is not likely that you will be online to react to play a bomb, Until it is you’re your turn.
How common would you say it is that you delay your bomb until someone is about to collect? I'm not a very experienced player, but so far in IRL games I've usually waited to see what's still coming before playing a bomb.

I reported an idea for implementing the possibility for turn based games, but now I'm wondering if the whole strategy is silly.. :D
The report is here https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=217733 in case someone want's to look or vote in either direction.

Hello pualukka. I like your bug suggestion. it seems like a good solution to replicate live play. When I am playing face to face games playing a bomb out of turn is significant frequently. It gives you the ability to get more cards, when you play the bomb. It also gives you the ability to see what other players play, which can effect your decision to play the bomb or not when it is not your turn.
