20 tiles per colour exceeded

Post by ozone72 »

24 reds were already played in previous rounds. Another 3 available.
18 yellows played - 15 on board plus 3 floor. Another 7 available.

Am I missing something?

In a 2-person game all 100 tiles (20 tiles each in 5 colors) will have been placed exactly once after 5 rounds.

If no one finishes the game in 5 rounds the discarded tiles from previous rounds are reshuffled and reused in rounds 6, 7,...

?

Did you read the part where euklid314 said that in the 6th round, the tiles are shuffled back into the bag?

(In a 3- or 4-player game, this will happen sooner than the 6th round.)

You probably believe that only the tiles from the floor line are reshuffled - but that is not the case.

If you, e.g., place 4 blue in row 4, then only 1 of these tiles moves to the right grid and the remaining 3 blue tiles are put aside and are reshuffled after all 100 tiles are played (round 5 in a 2-player game).

Thus you can play all 20 tiles of a color in the first 5 rounds but only very few of these tiles remain on the player boards (usually 5-10 per color). Most of the tiles (usually 10-15 per color) will be reshuffled, thus these tiles will reappear in round 6.

See e.g. the screenshot in the first post of this thread. Yes, at least 24 reds have been played in rounds 1-6. But only 12 reds have remained on the player boards, the rest of the 8 reds are in the bag and can be drawn. 3 of the 8 reds have just been drawn in round 7.

Summary: There are only 20 tiles but most tiles are reshuffled and are used again after round 5.
