Why am I out of the tournament?

Post by Jeroenpenguina »

I just had 2 tournament games were a player ran out of time and was kicked out. In both tournaments one player proceeds. I was out twice. Why?

Provide the URL links for the tables in question. No-one wants to click on your entire game history to try and do detective work.

Without looking at the tables, I would guess it's multi-elimination, and your account was the youngest of the non-booted players. That's what happens when a player is kicked and it's multi-elimination. All non-booted players are considered tied, account age is used to break the tie (with players with older accounts proceeding through).

But as stated, if you want people to check for you, provide the table URLs.

I wrote a post on this very issue in the "What happens if one excludes a timed-out player?" thread.

I remember I checked these players myself. They started on BGA in 2020 and 2021. I started more recently, I think in 2024.

So who do I need to pay to change my account to being started in 1867?

And yes my joke is to state the rethorical question whether this is fair?
NO, NO, NO it is totally unfair.
At least that is my opinion.

Yes, it is insane that the site still hasn't done anything about it.

Something similar happened to me in the final of a 200 players tournament. Someone kicked me out on the last turn, and as a result the person who 100% would have won wasn't declared the sole winner of the tournament. It was considered a shared victory with the three other players.

Imagine reaching the final of such a major tournament, doing nothing wrong and ending up having your victory ruined through no fault of your own, just because someone decided to kick out another player. Yet the site seems to think this is totally normal.
