You are saying Emgizy, who is a stronger player than you by a fair notch, is “running scared”? That’s coming dangerously close to reportable conduct here. In other places it would be called libel.

How about the facts, once again? In their last 200 games, a period which stretches back to last May, Emgizy only definitely did this twice, the two incidences you identified. There’s one other occasion where both players were negative so it’s impossible to tell who initiated the abandon or perhaps it was mutual. And there are two other occasions where the table was nullified but neither player was negative, so I have to assume it was mutual.

That’s all you got. In other words, nothing. But you continue to commit libel against them.
AlphaPrime1 wrote: 31 March 2026, 23:09 You don't understand the true winning position between the griefer and Orang3p33l
Again, libelling Emgizy as a griefer on zero evidence.

Think about it: if they go around cancelling games whenever they can, the fact that they can only do it 1% of the time would indicate that the overwhelming majority of players don’t run out of time on initial card picks or, well, ever. Which means Ghaleon and Orang3p33l were colossally slow. Which means Emgizy was right to cancel the game and therefore not a griefer.

OR people run out of time all the time and Emgizy does nothing about it, which means they aren’t a griefer.

Presumably you used to play TM somewhere else until you decided to inflict yourself on us 6 days ago. I suggest you go back there as you do not seem like a good fit here. Unless, of course, they kicked you out, which wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.

Now that you know about it, this is trivially avoided: just don't run out of time. If you can't play on fast settings, set your filter to only select slow games. If that's still too fast, play turn-based.

For what it's worth I've played over 1000 games on BGA, sometimes run out of time, and have never had someone do this to me. But if they did it wouldn't be the end of the world, since it just nullifies the game. Maybe I don't win a game I would have otherwise won but whatever.

I do wish we had a "bank time" clock setting, where you start with ~10 minutes on the clock but the increment is only ~1 second or something like that. This would help with the opening hand analysis when playing realtime. If you agree, consider upvoting this issue, and maybe it'll come to BGA someday!

AlphaPrime1 wrote: 31 March 2026, 21:54 Emgizy, that was pretty weak of seeing you not finishing a game against Orang3p33l and Ghaleon, both are top and seasoned competitor in arena. Who are definitely not slow. You caught both of them with this exploit and have done so in the past against newer players as well long before I made this thread. Never on a winning position somehow ummm that's interesting. Just don't try to make it sounds legit at the same time, ok buddy?

I am happy that I brought this dirty tactic to light, so players like you would stop griefing the real players who just want to compete.

EXPOSED.
Wow, that is just insanely funny for you to say. Regarding Ghaleon's game, he suffered a power outage and we decided to abandon as we commented through the HodgePodge discord channel. I wouldn't say we are close friends but we do converse quite regularly through his streams so I wouldn't have abandoned the game just to save me from a loss against him, especially when playing top players is exactly what I would like to do to improve.
And regarding Orang3p33l, also in the discord and we talked about this in chat before abandoning, iirc this was due to BGA instability and us being unable to actually play the game. Please, do not make assumptions when you know nothing of the games and instead use that time to improve and not run out of time.

Two of the most difficult thigs for people to ever say:

1) "I was wrong".

2) "I apologize".

Illustrated very effectively by Alphaprime1's defiant insistence of unsubstantiated poor sportsmanship in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

The most ludicrous part of this whole nonsensical series of rants is that ALhpaPrime1 plays real time on the FASTEST possible setting, when there are numerous ways to play slower settings and avoid this problem altogether.

I mean, anyone who has been here for 7 days and does not feel he is getting his $0.00 worth is welcome to leave and take the toxicity elsewhere. No one is forcing anyone to play here.

The speed wasn't the problem, it's the sudden abandon of a game while most players doesn't even know it's a thing. I am pretty sure everyone saw how you acted in forum, so just chill.

The worst is that you keep getting moded but still don't change your toxic behavior.

@emgizy then you are cool.

The game would not be abandoned if you were playing with slower timers. If you play properly within the allowed time, this would be a non-issue. But yeah, it's everyone's fault except your own.

And I do not "keep getting modded". You and I each had a post removed for rudeness. The difference is, my post was merely pointing out YOUR rudeness. In almost every post you write, you insult, criticize, tell people they don't understand the timers or how the site works, while accusing someone of play dirty, and insulting the hard-working developer of Terraforming mars. Yet you portray yourself as a beaten-down victim when literally everything you are complaining about is easily avoidable.

a half dozen players have already said the same things I have said regarding the timers and how to avoid having a game abandoned, yet you think I (and I assume the others) are being toxic? When you are the one accusing a player of being "dirty" with no justification? When you are the one failing to meet the game requirements of submitting your move within the allotted time frame, While you choose to play real time with the fastest settings.

This is beyond absurd at this point.

When you fail to meet your obligations in a timely manner, adverse consequences may occur. This is true here on BGA and in life. Blaming everyone else is a very poor choice on your part. The BGA code of conduct specifically says that players are expected to make their moves within the allowed time and that penalties may occur for failing to do so. Players can choose their time settings. Or play turn based. Or friendly mode.

You said that Arena games sometimes give you various different time settings. In fact, you can opt out of any time settings you are not okay with playing.

But you're the one telling me I do not understand how the site works? When selecting your preferred settings, you can check toggle boxes that say "I am never willing to play with [some specific time setting]. "

Literally everything you are complaining about is in YOUR power to fix or avoid.

There’s really only been one toxic person in this thread, and it’s not Frank. Hint: it would be the person throwing around slanderous accusations on zero evidence. Speaking of which…

The phrase "people don't know about the consequences of going out of time" seems strange to me. Since registering on the site I have always believed that going beyond the time limit led to instant loss, and it was only after a long time that I learned that this was not the case.

Here is the BGA FAQ section entitled "code of conduct"

(This is copied and pasted without alterations, other than my highlighting key portions:

What is the code of conduct?
On Board Game Arena, you should not:

Run out of time on the game clock.
Leave a game in progress on purpose.
Take an unnecessary and unreasonable amount of time at the end of game in an obvious losing position.
Engage in Kingmaking: enabling another player to win on purpose while there is a better move to make for yourself.
Give some piece of information about the current game situation that disturbs the normal game flow.
Communicate with another player about the game privately (for example with an instant messenging app).
Engage in provocation / triumphalism / defeatism... anything which is not fair play.
Use an avatar that may be shocking or offensive to other players (no advertisement, no politics, ...)
Breaking these rules will affect your reputation.

I rarely play on my phone ( I dislike the small screen), but I just opened a game on my phone and the timers are clearly displayed at the top of the game screen. Even without my glasses, I can see them.

On some sites, running out of time is indeed an instant loss (for example, that other version of TFM that has an endless list of assorted problems).

Here, the opponent can choose to abandon the game and inflict no penalty, can give an expulsion warning, which after 02 seconds, will be an expulsion with severe penalties, or can just opt to wait patiently.

If my timer goes negative, it almost certainly means something has gone very wrong, and I won't be making a move within 20 seconds, so I would much rather an abandoned game than an expulsion.

I play on the slowest timer when playing real time.
I play turn based.
I play friendly mode.

I do all these things s because I know that playing real time on the fast settings will result in a lot of clock violations.

In other words, I weigh what I am capable of and what I am not capable of, and I make careful selections in my game settings to avoid doing something that is explicitly against the BGA code of conduct.

If anyone is new to the site and not sure how things work, there are forums where people are generally helpful when new players ask questions.

In this thread, a person came in angry, irritated, and started lobbing hand grenades, insulting people, making accusations of dirty play and using exploits, and insulted one or more people involved with helping this website in various ways. Assumptions (incorrect assumptions, as it turned out) were made, even though it should have bene obvious these were assumptions. And the person doing all these things then seemed surprised at getting a "not exactly warm and cuddly" response from one or more people in this forum.

Side note - when viewing a game replay, the log simply shows that a player was out of time, resulting in a game abandonment or expulsion. Nowhere does it say that the other player did this instantly at time -0:01, as was assumed by someone in this thread. In fact, for all we know, in many or most cases, the opponent does wait 20 seconds or even several minutes and then STILL inflicts the less severe penalty of game abandonment rather than expulsion.
