Quality of life: Bidding

Post by JoyDivision »

Bidding can take a very long time, especially when there is a noticeable difference in strength between the combinations. It would be a great improvement for the bidding format if players were asked to input their maximum bids instead. That way you could simulate the entire bidding process automatically after that step is complete for all players.

If player 1 thinks combination A is worth 16 over combination B, and player 2 thinks it is worth 18. Then player 2 would get combination A for 17 coins (or 16 depending on who was designated as first bidder) but the players would only have to supply the interface with one bidding interaction instead of 16+ individual ones.

As an example of where this has been implemented successfully, I believe Terra Mystica has this as an option under “Fast Auction”. I agree that this would be a nice option/addition.

Agreed.

I don't play Scythe much here (yet), but this would be a good suggestion to make in the bug/suggestion forum if there is not one already.

The developer has been doing a lot of work recently and has bene very active in the forums, so now is a good time.
