What is the score next to the little suns ?

I've been playing Postcards for a while and I'm embarrassed to say that I still don't understand what are the scores next to the sun during the game. I know it goes up when you send a postcard, or when you place a souvenir that gives 2 points, but I don't think it's only that ? Thanks in advance to anyone who will take the time to explain, I feel really dumb

It's calculated from the points players gain immediately after same actions. (According to the rules.)

During the game:
- From sending Postcards.
- From placing souvenirs next to point icons.
- From placing camps from point iconed places.
- From doing "Best Traveller of the Region".

At the end of the game:
- From Itinerary card.
- From end game bonus.
- From Gift cards.
- From unsent Postcards.
