Help! What have you got that I ain't got, Schotten-Totten wise?

So I've been playing Arena Schotten Totten almost obsessively for months now, and no matter what I do, I end up ranking in the mid-300's. I'm not bad at the game-- I think I have a solid command of basic strategy and tactics--but breaking out of the 300's feels like an impossible task.

If you're scoring consistently in the 200+'s, and you've got a sec, please give this seeker a clue-- what are you doing or considering that keeps your score up there?
