Balancing

Post by stoic-pelican724 »

I could be totally wrong, im not good at trick taking games. But I feel like the +2 vp for taking last trick doesn't seem balanced.
Ive had games where I take all tricks except the last one and the aces and the round score will be equal. This seems wrong because I dominated everyone. I could be wrong tho

I don't disagree with you on instinct.

However, I do also feel like since it is open knowledge it can, and should, be played around. In actual gameplay I think it is an intended balance against someone dominating purely based on the bidding round. If someone has a strong hand and way to lock people out of even participating in the first few tricks then the +2VP can serve as a reward for the patient, long term player.

But what do I know! Would love to see some more discussion here because it does feel different than what is normally presented.

Hello

The number of victory points for the last trick is here to encourage players to choose between:
- Use your best cards to score fewer points during the round
- trying to score more points on the final trick. To do that, they need to feel and choose the right cards to hold for the last trick

The number of points (2 VP) has been done on purpose
And if you choose to keep your Aces until the last round, it's up to you ;)

I mean after playing quite a few games I do sort of like it ngl. But I still feel like 2 points for last trick in a 4 player game seems off. In 1v1 I like it. I think if the 2nd to last trick was 1 vp, in a 4 player game that is
