Invitation to open tournament

Post by 2ya »

Hi!

How do I invite players to an open tournament now?
On the previous version it was quite obvious and was possible, but now I don't seem to find.

Can someone help?

Thx.

Okay, let's raise the stakes!

How do you invite someone to a private tournament?

It's not possible anymore. BGA has chosen to delete this option. We are asking why, but they do not answer. We are waiting for them to find an "alternative solution"....

There is a workaround that someone else has found, but I haven't tried it myself:
1. Create a private tournament and open it.
2. Copy and save the invitation link.
3. Change the tournament to a public tournament.
4. Send the link via Direct Message to those you want to invite.

There is no need to switching to private and back: I simply sent in a message the page link of the public tournament. It worked for several people.

Option to invite players from the tournament page was really nice and useful. I've a feeling this will make the number of players in tournaments drop drastically.

I hoped it would have gone the other way: have a single button to invite all players of previous tournament in the championship to the new tournament. Otherwise the championship option makes little sense. :?

Now there is the old option to invite players: go to the tournament page and where there is the actual state of the tournament (down below with the registered users) there is the little box on the right to invite players.
Thx for the update!

the old way used to allow us (the creators of the tournament anyway) to invite players who didn't meet the ELO for the tournament. That option appears to have vanished.. was this deliberate?

They haven't said if it was intentional, but you can still get around it using the method posted by wsbgofficial above.

Nope - that doesn't work.
The name shows with a line through circle, and "ELO is too low to invite".

To be clear - this is an EXISTING tournament that I created. Some people have already signed up for it, so I'd rather not close it and start a new one.
