You have to specifically subscribe to a thread for that to happen. Click the wrench symbol to the right of "Post Reply" and select "Subscribe topic." By default you are not subscribed to a thread, even if you started it. And it won't trigger an alert in your profile. Instead it will show up under Notifications at the top of the forum the same way my quoting you did.

It's not really a paid service, is it? You can play every game for free. Even solo-only premium games, because you can also get premium for free.

As for discovery. Have you checked the links at the bottom? Things like "F.A.Q.", "I'm a software developer" and "I want to help BGA"?

Well I pay for it . To start tables, etc. It's worth it.

It's just a relatively unusual model. I am looking into the dev side of things, fwiw.

I don't know whether the developer listed on this game is currently active, but I can tell you about the little wrench icon at the bottom of the thread. You can use that to subsribe to any thread so you'll be informed of replies.
