I do like random maps. I'd like to see colonies sometimes, cuz its different and I like trying different things, but from what I have played of it does seem less balanced and there's some even sillier comboes than in the base game. I doubt i'll ever be in the group that gets to vote, so i have to settle for talking here.

Re: new arena season
I too find Colonies unbalanced and therefore less fun to play. To each their own; but I prefer non colonies games. I also prefer 2p. Have fun everyone.

For those that don't like the Arena season format, there's always tournaments. There's several non-random map Tournaments waiting to fire.

Re: new arena season
Tournament here on BGA is much less important than arena, and if we host an colony season is going to show case the game way more.charliec247 wrote: ↑16 April 2026, 02:30 For those that don't like the Arena season format, there's always tournaments. Re: new arena season
I am happy to play whatever format prevails. Personally I find Tharsis pretty boring, since it’s the most “solved” map. In general I would rather see change than the same thing repeatedly — for example, I would prefer doing a no-Prelude-Corp season, now that this feature exists. That is a more competitive format than with them on.
Venus is a high quality expansion that I’d like to see added. I’d rather play with promo cards + Venus than with Colonies on. Colonies is so hopelessly busted without rebalances, but if people want to play a season of it, I’m game!
I wish we could convince Fryx to implement the most important Colonies rebalance: disallowing double-trade on a single turn.

Have you and other top players tried (convincing them)? Currently, Colonies seems unpopular for serious play, and I doubt that is what the Fryx family wanted or intended for the Colonies expansion. Maybe they could per persuaded to allow a small number of rule modifications to colonies if it would broaden the appeal of the expansion.Corvus Mortis wrote: ↑20 April 2026, 15:40

I agree with you - whoever has the first player token is likely to double trade if that person has 2 trade fleets. Combine that with the fact that a colony can only be visited once per generation, and you have the 2nd player often without any desirable trade options. In a 3-player game, it must be miserable for whoever goes 3rd in a generation.

What do like most about Venus, in what high quality addition does it provide to the game and how do you feel about 2p manutech?Corvus Mortis wrote: ↑20 April 2026, 15:40 I am happy to play whatever format prevails. Re: new arena season
I would happily speak to Fryx directly. I love their game and have been among the top players for many years now. I have participated in most of the fan modifications of the game and think we could make a lot of easy improvements. I don’t currently have a through-line to them, but if the developers here do I’d be glad to work to explain the benefits.FrankJones wrote: ↑20 April 2026, 16:34Have you and other top players tried (convincing them)? Re: new arena season
That would be fantastic, talk about corp colony and card ban please as well, can you talk more about Venus?
