Recommendations for similar games

Post by RosieHel »

Ink is my favourite game. Does anyone have any recommendations for games with similar features?

I’d say that Azul requires same type of thinking while playing. Friend if mine told me recently that she finds Harmonies having similar characteristics too. I’d go for Carcassonne too while looking for similar strategy-randomness thing.

I’m curious what others will say!

Interesting. I enjoy Azul, but am terrible at it. Enjoy Carcasonne. Not heard of Harmonies so will investigate!

I think the closest one I know is Nova Luna. Sagani may look similar at first glance, but in fact needs a quite different strategy.

There are quite a lot tile placing games on BGA https://boardgamearena.com/gamelist?mechanismTag=206, but I don't know what you especially like about Ink. Here some other games you might look at (I have tried to order them by increasing complexity): Metro, Kingdomino, Tipperary, Loco Momo, Castle Combo, Habitats, Ghost Galore, My Shelfie, Tir Na Nog.

Language is a source of misunderstanding. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery: The Little Prince) But it is also the source of understanding - it all depends on how you use it. :-)

Having tried Harmonies I think the aspects I love about Ink are: Some ability to "block" your opponent - but not main strategy. High need for spatial awareness. Some ability to plan ahead. Sufficient variability that every game requires a unique strategy.

Thanks for the recommendations. Will investigate.
