Does my game need to be published first?

I have invented some abstract games. One of them is implemented on another server. They are listed in the BoardGameGeek database. Some people have printed them out and made their own sets. Does there need to be a commercial publisher before BGA considers the game for inclusion? Is the answer to my question already provided somewhere? I am grateful for your patience.

I think your question is very good and I wish someone from BGA would answer it directly.
