You basically exchange the Houston-New Orleans for Montreal-Boston, though there is a commitment extension, but mostly for things you're already aiming for like the 6 red, 5 black, and 6 colorless, all of which you did achieve.
That is a smart observation - LCP 43 is not so much worse than LCP 45 and it's unlikely my opponent would be able to place 45 trains by the end of the game. The subtraction is because I feared my opponent would unpredictably decide to take Houston to New Orleans. But on further reflection, forgetting about Toronto to Miami and going for a 29-turn blitz is not bad at all ...

As aside related to the newly posted game, but how's 6 colorless compared to 6 yellow for you? It's the poster child for the generic good slot, a standard eastern ticket add-in going north, and a generic funnel for any cut off color even if it doesn't quite fit into the main path. As it turns out it took that role for the opponent's green, the color you happened to cut off in the south. It fits your path equally with 6 yellow, so it would require direct disruption from them to cause any integration issues. With their previously made 4-white making a 6 white play look pretty unlikely, I don't think you were in for disruption wars on that front.

I do think the other approach has its merits. I usually go with the 6-yellow in case I need to spin the wheel on my last turn for Helena to LA. And it is aesthetically pleasing to cut off the top-left cities.
