Forfeit ?

When I am about to lose a game and click on 'concede', my opponent can refuse and I have to stay in the game. But when my opponent loses, they can concede victory and the game ends without me being able to refuse the concession. Why is there this difference? Thanks for your explanation !

Do you resign vs "white flag" of the Backgammon implementation or via "Concede" in Hamburger menu that is available for all 2player games of BGA?

Thanks for your answer ! I use the small white flag to concede, but this requires the agreement of my opponent each time, who may refuse.

There's two answers here.

As already said, the bga concede option is different from the in game backgammon forfeit option. Concede gives up the entire game, not just the current round (when playing multiple point matches). And doesn't require the opponent to accept.
But it is only available after the game is at least 50% completed.

The in game forfeit option can ask your opponent to agree. They might say no to your single point forfeit because they think they can still win a gammon for 2 points.

However, when your opponent only needs 1 more point to win, it will auto accept without asking them to accept. So that might also be what is happening.

I don’t think this last paragraph is quite right. That’s what it should do — auto accept if you are conceding enough to concede the match — but it doesn’t. What it does do is auto accept the loss of a single game if you have already borne off one piece.

Not being able to resign a game without opponent approval is really bad.

If I'm in a hurry and need to leave the game for some life-related stuff, I should be able to resign instead of getting penalty for leaving the game.

Obviously I wouldn't care if my opponent gets 1 or 2 or 3 points, they can get all the points they want, there are more important things that require attention more than a game.

Same applies to the scenario where somebody feels the game is completely lost and just wants to start a new one. No one should be forced to keep playing a lost game.

All other games I've played on BGA , you can just resign (as it should be).

There’s nothing to look into. The BGA concede option is there like it is in every other game on BGA, in the “hamburger” menu, upper right of the game screen. It’s part of the BGA framework. Backgammon also has an additional way to resign, but it does not supersede the BGA framework. Anything you can do in “all other games […] on BGA” you can do here.

Indeed, although this might have been changed in the past almost-2-years, my understanding was that Hex was only game on BGA
